An hour ride this morning - then putting the strom away for a few weeks. Off to China and Singapore!

Does the V-strom forum get past the Great Firewall?

Filled up the fuel tank at a local garage, plus the 5.5 litre fuel bladder I carry inside the left pannier for emergencies. Good thing its 70p per litre here. Hopefully tomorrow we cross the border into Myanmar.

fitted a tank pad, givi tank lock and a touratech radiator guard ,just waiting patiently for the engine guard and crash bars to arrive

Definitely. I've posted from most of the Northern Hemisphere as I am really a Russian.

Emptied about a quarter of its engine oil all over the left boot through the corrosion hole in the top of the alternator/left enging casing. that's what 65k miles and winter riding does.......

Days ago I also put increased platforms, adventur style, Puig brand. They really offer a good support, it is possible to remove rubber for pure off, they also offer the possibility to choose inclination. Really well done.

The best choice for customizing the horse was to equip the LED lamp instead of the original H7. Great job, now the night is nineteen day. No problem for other road users

Following on from yesterdays post, today I took the fuel bladder off and threw it in the bin, as it split and dumped fuel on the ground. So much for £85 worth of Australian tech. Also we have to wait 2 extra days to cross into Myanmar and pay a fine for overstaying as the organisers can’t get the paperwork on time. At least I got a ticket to see Avengers Endgame tomorrow in English for £5.

thought I would get the crash bars fitted today , 7 of the 8 Allan bolts came out no problem but the last one is rounded

so will need to acquire the services of a local mechanic to try and remove it,,,bummer

Have a drill but no easy out reverse bits, never used them, are they easy enough to do

When you say 7 of 8 came out, you're not taking all 8 out at the same time, are you?

tomrxy, In my experience, yes. Ones I've done need the right size 'tap' so better to have a few and expect to drill in stages or different bit diametres until you find the right combination and it works. You can guage the approx. dia. by one of the existing bolts and the size of the Allen key that fits. Start small and get bigger as necessary.

I pressume the engine bars came with new (longer) bolts anyway? My Heed bars did.

no I took 4 out of one side then fitted the bar , went to the n/s and 3 out of the 4 came out

Yes they do its the Heed set I got , looking at amazon for an extractor set very mixed reviews any recommendations

I've seen them in Lidl of all places, I think they were 'Parkside'. Can't say I can be of any further help as I'm in France.....

I'd personally try an independant motor store or tool shop and ask for recommendations there (if Lidl's ones are too cheesy.....)

If there is any "head" left, before drilling try hammering a torx bit socket into the offending allen head. Allen keys are the creation of the devil on anything over 4mm. Socket allen bits are my weapon of choice.
