Treated the Wee to an oil and filter change. So it's all ready for the West Wales camp.

My only away trip this year as the builders are "in" propping  a wall and the roof.  At present I am mostly living in the lounge with most of my belongings in the garage. So I'm looking forward to the luxury of sleeping in tent.

Changed the oil and filter and fitted the original links so she sits a bit higher (sliced my finger open in the process  ) but more importantly I can actually get it up on the Cosmo centre stand I previously fitted, by myself rather than with help when it was lowered. Didn't get to take it out for a ride as I was busy but sitting on it I felt no difference in height, front is still slightly lowered though and the shock has probably been adjusted for the shorter previous owner so I'll need to see about setting it for me.

 Fitted my mount to my crash bars for my camera too, not sure how much vibration it will cause so have to test and see how it goes.

I've been reading about the rear sprocket offset but not much about if it was the same for a 2014 DL1000.
Decided to try and put some 2 mm washers between the sprocket and carrier.
Worked real good!
The clunking and scraping when shifting from 1-2 or 2-1 is very much reduced, now it feels like any other gear change.
Very happy, the bike is getting closer to perfection! ????

Decided to swap the steering bearings given they've had nearly 35,000 miles on them. They looked pretty good.

Realised that although Delboy's Garage is very good at showing how to do it, the tap, tap, tap 2 min job is actually whack, whack, whack f#€&$!!. Calling in to the local bike shop tomorrow to have the lower bearing taken off the steering shaft as wasn't getting anywhere with the hammer and chisel - really should buy a bearing puller for next time...

Had a Nitron rear shock fitted and set up by Teut at TW Suspension Preston. The bike feels so much smoother on the road now and will cope better with my good lady and luggage on the bike when we come to Wales this weekend. Teut is a top bloke, he noticed the bolts holding my centre stand in place were lose, so he removed them and locktited them back in place for me. He also adjusted my throttle for me which was way slack (very easy when you know how).

Washed it and replaced the broken led lights ready for the West Wales weekend .

Spray painted the end cap with paint I already had, I'm going to rub it with a scotchpad to matte it up a bit.

Calling in to the local bike shop tomorrow to have the lower bearing taken off the steering shaft as wasn't getting anywhere with the hammer and chisel - really should buy a bearing puller for next time...

If you have a Dremel, carefully use a cutting disc to cut a vertical slot through the race. Stop cutting just before you start cutting into the stem, then use a chisel in the slot and give it a tap to break through the race.

This will release the tension and allow you to pull it off. For installing the new one, slide it on and use the old race with a slot cut into it to drive the new one down. Face the old race upside down when using it to fit the new one
