Checked it about 5 times since a call last night from South Yorkshire Police to say a couple of blokes had been seen trying to look under the cover...

Yesterday- led a 240 mile trip out from Norfolk to The Chequers PH at Stotfold for a lovely lunch (highly recommended) via the B660 and similar twisty roads. Eleven of us enjoyed the sunshine and a good bike chat at lunch and a couple of coffee stops.

Had my first weekday off work since February, so off I went. I've really missed out on the riding this year.

A long ride up the little lanes in the south of the Cotswolds, up to and around Gloucester and Cheltenham. I really enjoy the dry Autumn and Winter rides as there is so much less traffic around and I can visit all these little hamlet's without many cars coming the other way in the narrow lanes.

As I was in the area I went to see Mark at http://www.cymarcbikeparts.co.uk/. It was just an 18 mile ride to his workshop down the twisty A161 but the ride was spoiled by a slick of agricultural mud that covers everything in North Lincs at this time of year.
I'd ordered a footpeg lowering kit and a satnav mount then shamelessly played on his good nature by whingeing about being a total biffer with a spanner until he agreed to fit them for me.
His workshop is spacious, well equipped, very organised and this simple poster on the wall nails his attitude to fixing bikes.

The parts he'd made were of superb quality and I expect they'll still be around after the next ice age, which won't be true of the Suzuki fasteners on the strom which are made of cheese. Mark was careful not to chew them up and all the fasteners he uses are stainless steel.
Here's the bike up on the table.

Here's the left side footpeg in its normal position.

And here's the lowered footpeg on the right side for comparison.

No pics of the satnav mount but, as with the footpegs, I'm well chuffed with it.
The thing is, I've got an absolute bargain. Mark can't (and didn't) make any money by providing parts of this quality and fitting them himself - his other businesses subsidise this type of activity. The bloke is an absolute diamond. He does this because he's a biker who likes helping other bikers and the stuff he makes shows that he knows exactly what bikers need.
He can't provide a fitting service for everyone but he took pity on me for being so inept with a spanner but I've got to say that after I'd watched him I wished I'd had a go myself - it didn't look that difficult.
Rode back home via a detour over the Humber Bridge so did around 150 miles with the lowered pegs. Early days yet but the knees feel a little less creaky.
Thanks again Mark.

Would that be the A161 from Goole down to Crowle? One of my faves.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

It would TLPower. There's some surprisingly good riding on that flat wasteland around Goole. North Howden to Elvington is interesting if you're around that way. Mind you, that's probably covered in thick mud at this time of year too.

I'd ordered a footpeg lowering kit

+1

One of the best things I've done to my bike was order that from Mark  :thumb:

Can't believe how that extra inch has made all the difference to the ride comfort

Fitted four new orange lens and four new clear bulbs to the indicators as the originals are so dull they are difficult to see when the sun is at the rear of the bike.At the same time fitted four Kipling reflectors. They are as they should be now.Anyone need a clear lens?
