fitted cosmo centre stand , took about 45 mins , good fit and makes cleaning safer than using a paddock stand on your own . tomorrow mot.

Got it up on the paddock stand, degreased the chain with kerosene (although it used to be called paraffin when I was  lad) and lubed it with some castrol spray I had. Pity I forgot to check & adjust chain when it was up there... :dl_smiley_banghead:

Paraffin was for the heaters, kerosene was for the planes!
Life is short - You have to enjoy it on a Wee-Strom!

At 0515 I broke down just off j13 of M25, pushed my bike (650) 3 miles to Sunbury, to my parents until I can collect it next week. Borrowed their spare car as I had to get to work.

I suffered a total electrical failure, the bikes ABS light came on then the instrument panel started flashing, then the bike just stopped so I coasted to the kerb.
I tried starting again, but no power at all.

The bike itself was quite easy to push along the main road once you got into a rhythm, but also very tiring & very hot work. I phoned the AA but recovery would take about 2 hr.'s.

My legs & arms are still aching.

Now to start investigating why this happened.

Regards to all

Mark

Cleaned the rear brakes and swapped the pads from HH to GG. The GG feel much better on the rear as the HH felt a bit wooden. When the HH came out the backing of one of the pads had sheared off...

Went for a short ride today in the rain and discovered:
a) my Rev It! Jacket Poseidon GTX (c.£480) which is supposedly laminated gortex and super waterproof leaks - not even 6 months old...  :angry-banghead:
b) the traffic from Leeds festival has turned one of my favourite roads into a muddy field, which when combined with the rain has turned into a swap (brown trouser time when I hit that on a bend at 50mph...!)

Popped to GetGeared whilst out on the bike about the jacket, they said they'll need to send it off to RevIt! for repair and it can take 4-6weeks for it to come back. Not good when I don't have any other jackets except my summer vented one - could be mid October before I get it back (I'll drowned or get hyperthermia by then!!) Anyway, Martin Lewis disagrees with them having to send it off as it's less than 6 months old, so I'll be having an interesting conversation tomorrow when I go back with the receipt.

That's why a love my HG gear, gortex and never let a drop in. Bought used very cheap too. I'd be interested to know if you get anywhere with the leaky gear. I had some sheltex stuff that leaked almost straight away I didn't do any thing about it, but would like to know if I could have.

I had a HG Sheltec jacket which lasted about 8 years before it leaked. Only cost £180 so thought it did well. When I bought this one, the fellas in GG told me HG stuff is crap (one of them used to manage HG in Leeds years ago & I think he sold me the Sheltec one...) and the Revit! one was brilliant, far superior blah blah blah. They all came and had a look at my T-shirt  (which was bizzare in itself as it was like some kind of weird wet t-shirt competition with me being the only entrant) as they said they'd never had one of these leak before...

In fairness to GG they sorted out my leaky TCX Infinity boots - though that took 5 weeks and in the end TCX just said to swap them for a new pair of Infinity Evo boots as they'd lost mine. Am starting to wonder if gortex is as good as it claims as I've had two leaky items in 6 months,  so yes they'll fix them IF they decide it's the gortex that's the issue,  but they still leak... Will let you know how I get on.

Woke up at 6:30 wanting to get out playing with the bike but resisted until 8 not to piss off the neighbour.
Snow foamed it first and did he mrs car too. Love that stuff.

Then wired in the new lights thanks to Brockett :) and hardwired in the camera to the bigpie fuse box and mounted.

Filled up the Scott oiler and did the weekly checks.

Productive day on the bike

No I agree. Goretex is not the Holy Grail that everyone appears to think it is....there are other better brands and fabrics out there as many walkers and Alpinist's have realised.

Cleaned my bike after my trip to Black Forest/Voges Mountains.

Changing the oil and filter today and getting the Anakee III rear fitted to replace a rather worn Bridgestone (think it could be the original tyre on 13800m).

Had some nice new tyres fitted this morning. Opted for the Bridgestone Battlax A40s. Bit of a slow and boring ride home in the wet.
Hopefully should be a good choice, anyone else tried them? put some good miles on a set?

The Mrs has crashed the car into it even though there was a garage door between them.

Luckily it's just slid back on the centre stand only damage is the grip puppy has been cut on the metal shelf it was pressed in to.

Any damage to the Brown Note? I saw a thing on Watchdog where Nissan fitted some of the pedals the wrong way round apparently.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Haha, there's some creased paint on the brown note, the rest buffed out.

She couldn't have timed it better though, a neighbour has just converted their garage into living space and their identical door was getting disposed of Monday. So it's only going to cost a bottle of wine.
