Thanks for the tips. Think I've got some tubing somewhere in the garage.
BTW if you're on the move and need to prime your Scottoiler a straw from one of those cartons of ribena is just the right size to fit in the filler plug.

Did about a 20 mile round trip to Rhayader, where I met 650XT Pete who is camping there while he visits the Welsh 2 day enduro in Llandrondod Wells. Hoping to meet up again on Thursday for a trip to Aberyswyth for an all day breakfast overlooking the sea. :sunny:

Never easy.

Fitted Pyramid Hugger today. The OE chain guard bolts are like cheese and both refused to come out without rounding the heads, why could they not use a better bolt with and allen head rather than a phillips? Decided to cut/rip plastic chain guard away after having to take the silencer off and the pillion footpeg to give me a purchase on the bolt. Using mole grips and pliers managed to get both bolts out.  :fix:

Fitted the hugger, went on easily, well made, sturdy, well designed bracket, good gloss black paint and hopefully will now keep the rear end and shock a little cleaner.

Pleased :lala:

Hit the road at 05:30 for an early morning run up the coast to Alnmouth. All done and dusted for 8 o'clock and finished/started the day off with a Big Breakfast from Morrisons  :thumb:

Since fitting the centre stand I have successfully fitted a scottoiler and just last night I finished off fitting some DRL's and spot lights

Pictures to follow . . . . . once I've finished riding it some more  :lala:

Filled up with fuel again, nothing strange about that, except managed to get 273 miles out of the tank, 3.95gallons and 69mpg.

I have two days of very heavy traffic on M25, filtering for 20 miles each night at 25-35mph.

But still impressed

Commuted... sounds dull but a 60 minute commute on the bike makes a dull day tolerable. I'm only on day 11 of owning my Strom so going to show it some love at the weekend, routine checks and fit the tank cover /bag mount. (Hardly technical).

New tyres and a fan relay .... all work courtesy of Kwackboy. ... Tyres feel lovely on first impression. .. very sticky on the road .... BUT my Headstock bearing is on its way out .... Oh well another job when I get the money.

Two 650's One even had a beak  :smirk:
As I mentioned in an earlier post 650xt Pete is in Rhayader this week for the 2 day enduro, so as it was a lovely day today we decided to have a bit of a tour around mid Wales.
Started from Rhayader, first stop the Owls nest cafe in Llandovery for an all day breakfast (I mentioned before how good this place is, maybe some of you that are coming a long way for Fat Rats August bank holiday bash will call in on your way). Then it was off to the Llyn Brianne dam which is on the mountain road out of Llandovery. Hopefully the first photo.
Then on to Aberystwyth for an afternoon tea by the beach (second photo) before returning Pete to his camp site at Rhayader.
Excellent day out, about 150 miles in all. :lala:

Pete should hopefully have some video of the mountain road which he should be able to down load when he gets home on Saturday.

Decided to change the plugs and air filter, did the oil and oil filter a while back; had the bike a year and it has done 11,800 since new. Bike has full dealer history from previous owner, it states that the air filter was changed at 7,500. I have done 1800miles in a year on it.

Somehow I think not. Stripping the bike down was easier than I thought.

Took the plugs out, original Denso's, electrode all intact, good colour but put NGK Iridium's in. Undid 3 bolts and pushed rad forward was enough to use plug tool.

Hard wired the Zumo to free up the 12v socket and moved the mount to the left handside handlebar which I prefer. So having sprayed the engine casings, fitted a hugger also this week last job is to stick and Anakee III on the rear.

Fitted a Michelin Road 4 Trail front very impressed so far while still scrubbing in. Changed front and rear brake pads can't believe the difference and the pads I replaced were not that bad.
Keep her lit

Back on the road again.  :angry-banghead: Knackered the chain so needed a new one. Fitted new sprockets. Changed the front pads , now to try again and scrub the new tyres in, been a expensive week. I feel the need for freedom and wind in my hair roll on Saturday.????

Booked it in for an MOT and decided to replace the chain and sprockets, so ordered them too.

Discovered a screw in my rear PR4 too   :bawl:  :bawl: that's getting plugged at the MOT...

Fitted a Givi hugger, the last one I had was destroyed by my lowered bike hitting it.  Was a PITA to fit and could use all the fixing holes, but it's well secure so won't be an issue.  Also discovered my Givi pannier racks were the removable ones! 7mm Allen key and bingo, clean lines again.  Now I can see the exhaust clearly, I might have to replace it!
2013 650, full Trekker luggage, Givi Airflow, heated grips, scottoiler, hyperpro Spring

Wake up early in the morning, Lake Maggiore an than Simplon pass, than downhill to Briga and Grimselpass, very bad weather with 8°c so come back and Nufenenpass and home 620km with smile on face.
