Got everything ready for the immanent arrival of my 'sharealike' basket. I spent most of the afternoon prepping the gasket faces and cleaning the threads on the bolts and the threaded bores.

Can't wait to get her up and running again.

Just got back from the dealer where I took the bike for the recall a couple of weeks ago. While it was in I asked them to service it.
Last week I was messing with the bike and found that they had fitted NGK CR8E's instead of CR8EIA-9's! it did say on the invoice but I hadn't checked it properly.
I rang the dealer to arrange for them to be changed, we had a short conversation, him saying that they are correct and me telling him to check, with Suzuki if necessary. It took him a few minutes to come back to the phone, he agreed with me but said they would be fine and under the service schedule will be changed every 7,500 miles anyway. My view was different and an appointment was booked.
It seems some dealers are still not aware of the correct plugs for the 2012 > DL650
If I had not been on this forum I wouldn't have known either!! (Yes, I know it says in the handbook but......)

The bike now has the correct plugs!

Adjusted that adjuster that makes your brake light come on when you press on the brake pedal after being told it was only coming on under hard braking. First bit of faffing I've done and not a spanner in sight.

Took it to the first BikerNite meeting of the year at Staverton Airport, Glos.

Pint of Guinness, Cheeseburger, a look around several hundred bikes and a chat with fellow bikers. Weather was spot on.

Magic only bikers know about

Ian, the plugs (CR8EIA-9) x4 were £39.64 + vat! (£47.57)!!!!! But they refunded the price of the wrong ones (£29.12 + vat) costing me £12.63. Labour was FOC because they cocked up but if I had to pay they charge £48.00 + vat hour.
During our phone call last week when he told me how much the iridium plugs were I said I'd get my own and he could fit them, but I was told they couldn't do that as they had to get the parts from Suzuki!

Anyway I'm pretty sure that's the last of my hard earned they'll have!! Will do what I can myself, anything else the local bike repair man can have.

Got 16.400 on the clock.

Thanks for that Mick.If the original plugs were the same as they replaced them with,ask him for them back and I will give you a couple of quid each for them,

For interests sake how many miles had the old plugs done ?

Iridium plugs are good for at least 50k miles. 100k shouldn't be much of a stretch.
Changing them every 7k is laughable.

I fitted irridium plugs to my wee and didn't even contemplate looking at them.
40k mile with them and the gearbox expired.
The irridium plugs in my varadero will never likely see the light of day again.

Ian, I would presume the old (original )plugs are in the bin now, the 'wrong ones' fitted last week he gave me a refund for, so I doubt he's going to give them to me. Sorry.

OK thanks Mick,just had a look on fleabay,Opie oils are selling them at £7.75 each.Item no.171456917444.I think these are the correct ones for your bike and I think they are OK for my DL650K9.Can anyone confirm this?Plus if you buy oil and the total comes to over £50 you get another 5% off.

They're the ones for the 2012> and the ones I've got in now. At that price it's a saving of £16.50 on 4 plugs supplied by a dealer!!
I don't know if they're correct for a K9. But I'm sure someone will come along and confirm.

Excellent service by John. The quality of his work is fantastic and the basket was very well packed to ensure it arrived back in tip top condition. Can't wait to go for a ride, hopefully will get out tomorrow morning.

Took bike to Newtown for its first service, 100 mile blast on the way back. Wow what a difference, the bike seems to fly.
Weather looks good for Sunday, can't wait to get out for another ride.

I'm just back after doing 115 miles on the modified sharealike clutch..... Holy sh1t, What a difference.

The bike is now smooth as silk from tick over to the redline and pulls in top gear from 2k rpm easily and smoothly. The only downside is the biting point for the clutch is a tad bit further out than it used to be, but I'll adapt to that. Even 'quick starts' off the line are a breeze now where as before it was like a bucking bronco.

I can honestly say its the best money I've ever spent on any bike..

Have a look on his website - www.vibefreev.com and its explained in detail. There are some clips on youtube showing the process also.

Pricing varies with return postage costs etc so you'd have to email him for a quote.

Basically, my bike had a horrendous vibration from the clutch that shook through the whole bike from about 2500rpm to 3300rpm . This is due to wear in the clutch basket. John strips, repairs and modifies the clutch basket itself and it sorts it... Precision engineering and specialist stuff.
