Most likely one of the rubber boots has come off of the airbox. Just a matter of reconnecting it. Some people wire them on as its quite a common problem.

Check that other hoses weren't disturbed when you did the sync. Ditto the little rubber caps that you removed to attach gauges.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

EGR on a bike... are you sure? I've never seen one on a bike before.

Just the same with the air box on.
I might be wrong but I think it might be from the servo on the top butterflies but this moves okay when you turn in the ignition

even with the sec arse valves pulled it shouldn't do that , its running lean at idle ,, has it been mapped ? plugs OK? a very hot tip plug can cause it to fire prematurely ( wide open for sex joke )  right exhaust cam clearance?? does the exhaust get white hot ??  its all the signs of running lean or suckin air where she shouldn't, as a lucky man once said she can suck a golf ball through a lenght of garden hose, try spraying wd40 or carb cleaner around where the bodys mount to heads and if it stalls then you've a leak ??

All ex and inlet shims changed and in spec. Used to do it very occasionally after a long run but nothing like today.
Been remapped last year in a yoshi box to richen the mixture at low revs.

if its not leaking / sucking air- try the wd or carb cleaner to test ,new plugs , or worse a re-map, very easy to diagnose from my comfy seat and keyboard  ,  but without being there it does sound like it needs more fuel,

It would appear I have sorted it this morning.
STP Sensor was a mile out on the resistance check.
Fast idle was also out.
I've had the bike running for 15 mins up to temp and only getting an odd back fire.
It's definitely a back fire from the rear cylinder as you can see the throttle body boot expand when it happens. Might be running a bit rich as the plugs were black.
This could be from when I had it re mapped to get rid of the low speed surging.
Back fire doesn't happen above 2000rpm only at tick over.
Thanks for the suggestions though.

With a small break in the crazy work schedule, I finally managed to fit in a ride. Just a 55 mile run up and around Malmesbury and Cirencester with the sole intention of hitting the 26000 mile mark. Judged perfectly too as 26000 came up in my road on the way home.

This was my first ride since late January and only the second of the year. I'm always a bit apprehensive after a gap like that, but my timing was all good and it was a safe and smooth trip.

I seem to remember the bike being a bit filthy after the January ride, but it looked terrible in the garage when the cover came off. There was a visible ring of powdered mud around the bike where it had all dried and fallen off. So after the ride it was snow-lance time and a wash before parking up again. So, before during and after pics show the change.

Took a pleasant ride through to Mr bigpie to get one of his Aux Fuse boxes fitted. Nice to meet you sir.
Roads were fairly quiet and this weird yellow thing was in the sky for a while  :sunny:

Yesterday, did 100 miles around Peak District. Nice steady ride without a stop! Both of us were glad to get off the bike when we got home.............more 'practice' miles required before we start the tours!!  :)

Yesterday led a club run from Derby up to The Craven Collection nr.York.15 bikes, great day out, 220mls.no one got lost and no rain. Result. The Craven Collection is different to any bike museum I have seen before. The bikes are all as original without being restored and the bike memorabilia is huge, and as a bonus over the road is a garden centre with a great café.
