The Trough is a lovely spot in the world. One of the places me and the other half like to bike around. Looks like you had the weather for a good run out.

I've never been.

One day I will. :)
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

The Trough brings back many happy memories from the 70's when I lived in Oswaldtwistle, it was one of my fav runs on a RD250...great times, must get back up there.

Rode it.

I felt I had to as it was 5 months as of yesterday. Partly because the bike was buried behind all the bits for a 10x12 Shed that have been living in my garage since October and partly because since I unburied it there has been a storm every weekend.

I thought I might be a bit rusty on the timing side, but it was a nice 50 mile bimble up into Gloucestershire. Other than the bit where it rained again .....

It's good to have got back out again.

Just don't call at The Inn at Whitewell for a sausage baguette. You thought Hawes was pricey...

After 19,475 miles I finally changed the Dunlop Roadsmart 3s. Ended up with Road 5s on the bike due to stock in the shop. It's nice to have round profile tyres again

I also got chatting to a chap who was having new tyres on his Multistrader after 6,000 miles. He also has a new 650 V-Strom as a second bike  :thumb:

Final picture of the rear tyre on the Roadsmart 3 (the front still had plenty of mileage left) and the new R5.

I'm rather steady and can't wring anywhere near that mileage out of a tyre.

The OEMs, Anakee 3s and PR4s all lasted c.11,000 miles. I just think the Dunlops are a long wearing tyre and I can't say I noticed any poor riding characteristics in wet/cold. I must admit I'm a fairly steady rider, although don't mind pressing on the b-roads in summer (using the revs to get up to speed). If the R5s don't work out, I'll definitely go back to the Dunlops  :thumb:

Did a service on the V-STROM this morning. Oil and filter, air filter, cleaned up calipers and changed the fork oil which was messy, plus general bits and pieces. Couldn't be bothered taking the radiator off to do the front plugs. Will catch them all at the next valve service. Getting quicker at getting the tank on and off with all the associated plastic.

Rode it up to Castleton this afternoon for a coffee. (no breakfast, no cake  :icon_no: so had fish & chips when we got home!!  :))
Not a bad day out, got lucky with the weather. Lots of tractors around and plenty of mud on the roads, so will be washing it tomorrow.  :thumb:
