Unfortunately if you blow it up a bit you can see that the 'bike is not clear......because of the bright sunshine outside and the darker inside the exposure was all wrong (left the camera on auto) and I had to do some 'adjustments' to get it reasonable.

Its been recovered!!!!

Ignition damage, snapped handlebars, all luggage missing, other cosmetic damage. Going to see it on Saturday just for a look. I don't know what the likelihood of the insurance fixing it is, I'm pretty sure it will probably just be a write off.

NEVER,NEVER,NEVER,accept the first offer from the insurance assessor.I had my K100LT wrote off after a car t-boned me in Huddersfield.They gave me an insultingly low offer and I refused it flat,I called the assessor and told him what I thought it was worth, and what I would have to pay for another bike of the same quality, he said send me proof then.So cut I out about half a dozen ads from a couple of bike mags with the front page of the mag with the date on, and faxed them to him(yes faxed!).They sent the settlement cheque next day.that's his job, to try to make you take a low settlement, you don’t have to take it, just keep arguing.

Nice ride up and around some lanes in the Southern Cotswolds. It was bloody hot. I managed to get through a Ford without coming off, so all is well.

Really needs a clean now though.

Needed a little more carrying capacity, so took the budget option... Works remarkably well. Stable, water tight and not too daft looking (at least I hope not) and for £30

I laughed when I first saw one of those on a bike but it really is a good idea and looks the part, I was about to buy a Givi Trekker but will nip down to B&Q to have a look if they do one that fits 2 helmets in

If I had the money I would prefer a quick release system, using a tool box does require a spanner so isn't quick. However I can't justify near £300 for a box, there are other extras I would prefer first

Why didn't you just put one of these on. Just as cheap, they work well and are designed to go on a bike. Not Givi quality but at £30 they aren't bad.

Out early 7am, 260 miles through hampshire and Sussex. Saw the weather forcast and went out in search of strong winds. Boy did I find them down near bognor. The strom did great overall, one big moment being blown into oncoming traffic. Not many out - loomies was EMPTY at 8.30 and 2pm. Barely 10 bikes.

Wind is fun

Rode 220 motorway miles non-stop today. Maintained a speed of between 68-70mph unless a lorry or variable speed slowed me, the whole way (apart from the start of the M42 to the A5 which was a car park so I had to filter), and the bike showed 70.9mpg when I put it away - still 2 bars of the fuel gauge.

I have to say, I have new found respect for those of you who do the iron arse challenge

Though I understand that people do it as a challenge.

And I'm too stingy to 'waste' my tyres riding a loop for the sake of riding the loop as a challenge.

Had some fun working on my brothers Vee. He's not used it for over a year so I did some recommissioning work on it. First it needed a new battery. No biggy. Fired it up and it leaked fuel from somewhere under the airbox. Cue a hasty strip down to locate and fix it.
