It was a socket Allen bit I used, but think someone previous had rounded it a bit and I just made it worse, I did try hammering in a larger size but no joy

Fitted the new clutch lever bracket (had to get the whole unit, bracket lever & switch as the bracket does not come separately. Luckily Robinsons Foundry had them on offer at £25, the switch on it's own is £15) all connected up & it works!  :thumb:
At some stage I will get the old bracket sorted (my man couldn't do it) and I will have a spare.....hopefully I will never need it!

Started packing for 6 weeks solo camping in Europe. All new to me.
Now realise I have too much stuff. Have repacked about four times, and will continue to do so next week...

washed mine last night after a 100 mile ride, North Yorkshire dales, Strom is bloody brilliant on hilly, shitty b roads. Miles and miles of exploring on them. Had the Strom about a month and put just aver 2000 miles on it. Putting it through its paces, and testing it out. Bloody good. Well, maybe seat a bit of a sod like GSX, not sure yet. Manufactures get your bloody act together, seats good, standard heated grips and centre stand on ALL road bikes please.

Removed the front exhaust clamp, down near the front right of the engine. Accidentally. Armed with nothing more than a damp sponge. The only bit that wouldn't come off was the spot weld. The clamp had almost completely disintegrated, after a mere six and a half years of virtually total neglect.

Similar to mine Rusty...

Here's the link to my post when I changed it - I put the size of clamp and torque setting in it  :thumb:

I thought about changing my clutch cable today as it's started to fray, but having looked at it in the garage I decided I couldn't be bothered  lol

Started packing for 6 weeks
Has no one told you? Before setting out get all the stuff together that you want to take, then half it. Get your money together, then double it.  :lala:

Replaced the clutch cable assembly, brake lever (again) swapped the OB crash bars for some old OEM ones (they'd popped a weld being dropped in the snow in Feb and were rattling at 3000rpm like a f***ing air hammer!) replaced the grip puppies, replaced the lighting relay rig, tried to fix the headlight cable socket (behind the rad) - did it but no dice (and no headlights ...again) :( and tried to replace the number plate panel assembly, but the screw behind the exhaust pipe was being an absolute fecker and would not budge...(sighs) - still, the old girl has done 80,000 miles and I'm not the best at looking after/cleaning bikes, so I can't complain.

fitted a pair of Avon Trail riders. put the paddock stand under the rear swingarm and put a trolley jack under the engine to lift the front, took the wheels to the tyre shop had them fitted on returning home found the jack had gone down and bike was on it's side on the floor.
why the feck don't they fit centre stands anymore, plus you can't put a bike lift under the engine as there is no frame tubes and the front exhaust runs down the centre,  lifted the bike back up with my block and tackle from the RSJ running along my garage roof. fitted the wheels back in with it hanging from the roof.

That sucks, hope not too much damage. I had the same thing happen to me with my old SV1000 a few years ago. It also had no centre stand, so took the trolley jack away and forgot I hadn't put the side stand down... opps. I had to buy a new mirror, lucky nothing expensive but still annoying.

22500 mls service today. As now out of warranty used Giddings MtrCyls at Lenwade, Norwich. Only a young chap but was highly recommended and did a great job.
Bike rode like new on the way home which just goes to show how you get used to slow deterioration in performance over time.
Despite heavy rain there and back was well worth the trip. Now all the salts washed off and back in the garage ready for the next 7500 mls.

Short 70 miles ride round Wiltshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. Lovely day for a ride too.

Hit 28000 miles as I got home and didn't need to clean anything :)

I've done way more mileage in 2019 than I did in either 2016, 2017 or 2018, so I am keeping my promise to myself.

Took my bike down to my local garage for it's MOT this morning, passed with no issues as expected.

Had a funny chat with the tester as he was questioning the mileage, he thought my speedo must be out as I couldn't have covered 11,208 miles since last year and to have such a clean bike!

That has made my day, and made me realise that my OCD might be getting out of hand!
