Just got in from putting the new oil filter on and filling it up with around 2.7L of very pale Smith and Allen motorcycle oil (as recommended on here). Manual says to add 2.75L of oil, but put slightly less in to allow small top up if needed rather than having to remove excess. I'll start it tomorrow and check for leaks when it's not raining.
Two things I learned today, first, if you drain the oil with the bike on the centre stand, you inevitable miss your oil pan when you pop it on the side stand to get the dregs of oil out, turning the garage floor a shade of dark oil

Second, exhaust clamps don't last longer than 45,209 miles... or at least mine hasn't as it's snapped. Now on my to do list once I find the right size. I wonder if I tell the missus this means I need a new exhaust she'd believe me?
