Had a job guiding two hikers into the middle of Souther Dartmoor and back again. Beautiful ride early this morning to pick them up from their B&B and then back home through sunset glow over the Moor.

Picked up my new DL1000 and managed a trip to the Kent seaside for a coffee.

Sad to see my 650 K7 go, but onwards and upwards.

How do they compare? 650 vs your new 1000? I am thinking of px'ing my 650 towards a thousand cc version.  :)

Andy, first impressions are favourable.

Even at running in speeds, it holds its own on the motorway and A roads on a weekend ride out. Computer says 56 mpg too, which is a bonus.
It feels lighter than I thought it would be.

Only negatives so far are the marks on the yellow seat, anyone got any cleaning tips and having to buy new bits as most of my old 650 parts don’t fit.

Overall very happy.

Finally got around to riding my ROSPA riding test this morning after having to postpone it in February.
Managed to get a pass helped by the lovely weather and dry roads.
Feeling happy and a bit relieved I’ve finally managed to get it done.

Friday 19th Derbyshire

Had a bimble around Derbyshire with jabmotorsport, finally managed to access the Derwent and Howden dams (third attempt as the access road has restrictions on it) well worth the effort, some stunning views. Elan loop enjoyed and then Monyash for a coffee and cake then getting "lost" for a while looking for new roads and tracks.

Saturday 20th Lincolnshire and Skeg Vegas

A day out around Lincolnshire and a trip to Skeggy for fish and chips, BIG BIG mistake on choice of restaurant. As some of you know we have been to the Sea View restaurant a few times and the food has been OK, not on Saturday so we complained to our waitress but only got the answer "well I didn't cook them" I was not a happy bunny. On the plus side the wife bought me an Ice cream with two flakes in from the usual place on the sea front, result. :thumb:

Sunday 21st Richmond then Hawes

Two up again and the long way round to Hawes via Richmond, Bellerby, Wipperdale bank and Buttertubs pass for a fix of deep fried Wensleydale and chips, perfect . Across the road for coffee and Strawberry cake thing as it had started to "dew" a lot. Dried off on the way home (not speeding just drying things off officer) finished off with a brew at a friend’s house.

That’s my weekend off nearly done roll on the next  :thumb:

Sailed it through its MOT. Oddly the headlights were both said to be too high. Never been altered, never been mentioned before, bike loaded exactly as previously, but a few tweaks of the adjusters sorted it.

@USER650
Glad you finally got past the gate at Fairholmes, maybe get all the way to the Kings Tree next time  :angry-banghead:
The logging work that thwarted you (second gate) should end in November but I believe could go on longer...
Normally in winter, access past Fairholmes  is only restricted Sundays and public holidays and I think that may include some school holidays.
If anybody is specifically going to visit to gain access to the upper dams at any time of the year I advise contacting the visitors centre if you want to know the current situation.
