Started last night, completed today .... fitted a Fuel exhaust to the Glee.
Quite a pain removing the old system, particularly as I have a "bash plate" and centre stand fitted, and... Sod's Law... I dropped the old system when it finally came loose and put a little dent into the previously pristine chromed end-cap of the silencer!
Fitting the new system, on the other hand, was a piece of cake  :thumb:

Heh - see the seat cover fits and is looking good.  BTW - I was thinking of fitting a fuel exhaust myself but the people at Fuel weren't sure it fits with the SW Motech bash plate, Suzuki centre stand and pannier rails.  But sounds like it should fit no problem?

Attempted to take the front mudguard off so I could fit a mudguard-extenda. Got the bolts off one side, totally stripped the inside of the bolts off the other with the Allen key. This is why I hate diy. So that's never coming off unless anyone has any tips?

I don't know the bolt in question but my usual approach with rusty allen bolts on zuki's is to soak in wd40/gt40/whatever for 24/48 hrs. Also allowing me to cold off. Then I have a set of torx bits to a 1/2 drive socket set. I choose an oversize one, and ram the mofo home with a hammer. Works best on short bolts and make sure its in there till the 'hilt' before you wrench.

Some failures and snap off's be warned.. and I'm sure someone here more knowledgeable will have a better solution more appropriate for that bolt.

So I'd prob listen to them.   :obscene-drinkingchug:

Oh and I now avoid allen keys... always 1/2 inch allen sockets where possible. then 1/4, then the little ones, then allen keys.
If it has two wheels.. I'll ride it.

+1 hammer in a torx bit on a socket. Always use sockets and never keys unless you've had the blighters out before.

If you get stuck Paul I have a decent selection of allen and torx sockets and also a most excellent variation of hammers. There is also a Screwfix just up the road....
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Cheers both, we live and learn. I'll see what I have in my box of tools, I definitely have a socket set, not sure about the torx Allen sockets...

It's usually the crap "captive nut" in the front mudguard that gets folks. Not captive at all, can turn in the square recess, not much of a nut either, really. Absolute piece of shite.

Agreed there Rusty. I ended up removing the front wheel and spent ages hacking the bloody thing off from the inside. That crap-tive nut was replaced with a nylon thread bolt and covered in a large blob of ACF50 grease. I can now get a spanner on the inside of the mudguard to help remove if needed.

On Wednesday (I forgot all about it :old:) I went over 40,000 miles on the odo. I probably should treat the bike to a present, either a new exhaust or new rear shock?

After an hour of WD40, hammering, a bruised thumb, a lot of swearing and possibly some sunburn... I still can't get that bloody screw out of the front mudguard. Feeling utterly defeated I fitted an anti fatigue throttle assist bit of plastic,  straightened my wonky looking bar end weights, reattached my handguards properly and added a tank pad.

Just fitted a Givi PL3101 rack to my Glee.
Only took 20 minutes, no problem at all!
I cannot afford the panniers yet though. Next payday, I will be ordering a pair of Givi Trekker 33's.

Left work in Gateshead at 4.15 on Friday afternoon and rode via Hartside to Dockray which is near Pooley Bridge in the Lake District. Nice evening meal and a couple of pints in the pub, then next morning rode to Troutbeck then through Wigton and along the Solway coast passing through Bowness on Solway and Port Carlisle. Then up to Dumfries via Annan and onward up to Elvanfoot, then back down the B7076 to Moffat. Again a good feed and a couple of pints and this morning set off for home on Tyneside via Talla reservoir, Selkirk, Jedburgh and stopped for tea and a bun at Otterburn. Only downside was picking up a two inch rusty nail in the rear tyre somewhere up near Bowhill. It went through very near the sidewall and was leaking air a wee bit so I just took it easy for the last 80 miles or so. All in all though, a cracking weekend.

This good weather's fun!  Out for a run this afternoon with the "nearly son-in-law" and his Aprilia - around 100miles for a coffee via Vale of Glamorgan, Glynneath, and the foothills of the Brecon Beacons. And that's after 200miles or so yesterday visiting Tanygroes, Ceredigion, yesterday ..... I also passed by Mr Rat's establishment, but the Happy Campers were out and about!

Only had her a week, but a vtwin without a decent exhaust is sacrilidge.  I got a Delkevic can off Ebay, and I must say I'm very impressed.  Ordered on the Thursday, arrived on Friday, all fixings fittings and sealant.  Went for the carbon can, all in 175 pounds, and the panniers still fit which they said they would, would highly reccommend them.  Also fitted the tanklock ring for my Givi tankbag.  Succesful weekend!
Cheers Jock
