Ordered a new one. Get it Thursday then run it in over the weekend with first service Monday and All Year Biker protection applied on Tuesday. It then needs fettled before I catch ferry to Ijmuiden on 9th June.
Goodness me, is that the time?

Well we are fitting the bar raisers today along with a new plate for the top box popping a cramp buster on the accelerator.

Small jobs but worth while and should make a difference.

Had a few hours tinkering yesterday - Gave the front forks a bit of attention, they've been leaking oil a tad so gave each a 'scrape' between fork and seal with some thin plastic - Pulled some crud out, so hopefully that was the cause... And not going to need a rebuild!

Also finally got around to properly routing the heated grip wiring and fitting my USB charging points to the relay... They made removing the fueltank OTT!  15mins of the day spent figuring out where to route the fuel tank vent pipe, forgot to remove prior to pulling the tank, so pulled out the breather!  Figured 'That'll do' after 15mins!

Rode to work with the new handlebar raisers fitted and OMG what a difference.   The 25mm riser and slightly rolling the bar forward has meant my position is a lot more relaxed, upright and so comfortable.....  why have I never done this before!!!!

Just have to get used to filtering now the mirrors are a new height :-)

Took the bike out to fill it up for the run tomorrow, as it was a nice night asked Deb if she fancied an hour run round. Filled up and set off, on the way back we were following an Audi for a few miles down some back roads, not doing any speed just bimbling along enjoying the evening. Coming through Repton (of public school fame) when I saw a Golf waiting to pull across into a school entrance, indicator on, and he waited for the Audi to pass. I was maybe 5/6 car lengths behind doing less than 30mph when he pulled across in front of me, and stopped!! Brakes on, hard left, hard right and we were on the other side, me being deafened through the intercom by Deb explaining to the driver that he shouldn't have done that and what an inconsiderate chap he was.............hope she doesn't shout like that at me when she sees the state of my undercrackers!!!

Got the bike out to go to work last night, just unplugged it from the Optimate but it was completely dead so got a lift with Mrs Robo.
Put the drop tester on it today and it's officially dead!, luckily the quad battery is the same size so I've "borrowed" it to keep me mobile and ordered a new battery.

Due to needing the front head off to repair the spark plug thread I stripped off all the front fairings and mounting bracket. The bracket was rusting on the welds (2005 bike) and really peed me off seeing it whilst riding, so I wire brushed all the affected areas and sprayed it up with a rattle can of black metal paint (similar to smoothrite) from Lidl which was only £2 a can. It's come up lovely and should easily see another 13yrs before needing to be done again.
This is such an easy job and well worth doing when you have a little free time on a sunny day!!  :lala: :lala:  :happydance:

While I was at it (spraying the bracket) I also wired in a relay controlled marine twin USB socket for the fairing and a lighting master switch next to the right hand handlebar switch unit. Just break into the yellow lighting wire in the loom from the starter switch/button.
Two simple and worthwhile mods. :fix:

Rode to work and back. This bike is easier to filter with that I thought it would be.

Oh and took screen measurements lunchtime before a trip down my engineering dept to mod me a couple of brackets :smirk:
