Just fitted another hagon shock, this is the 2nd hagon shock I have fitted on this bike in the time I have had the bike (10 years) they are brilliant superp quality and a pleasure to deal with, I have the shocks made to my weight and height 24 stone and 6ft 4 so they go through a lot.

Got it recovered by SOS. Rear wheel puncture, guess what I'm doing tonight  :fix:

On the plus side only waited 30 Min's on M61.

After a false start which had me panicking for a few minutes I rode a bumpy, twisty B road for 30 miles to a friend’s house to borrow a low range torque wrench to fit my new Cosmo fork brace to my Glee.
Benefit of riding this road was on the way back the improvement was obvious and the front end felt a lot less skitterish and more planted over the bumps. It was very windy and although I could feel my head and shoulders being blown around the bike was a lot more stable than it has been pre-fork brace.
Very pleased and well worth the money.
The false start was turning the bike on and having no (N)eutral symbol, a CHEC symbol and just a click when I pressed the start button.
Had been working fine a few days before and worried I had drowned something washing the bike yesterday so ran in to grab my owners manual and iPad to check on here for ideas.
Back out to the garage and immediately saw the red ignition button was set to off and as I don’t ever use this switch must have hit it by accident when drying the bike after it’s wash. Twat!

Evening All

Running in my 1000 at the moment but enjoying the experience aside from the slow top end.....!
All things are new to me with the riding position having stepped off of a Hayabusa of 14 year duration.
Feeling like Jamie Whitham when I get some lean on remembering how he used to sit very high on his race bikes...

Went for a short bimble - 7hrs - to Hardknott Pass Via Wynrose Pass. Not too bad a road on the Strom - much easier than the 1300cc cruiser (+ crying pillion) of last time. For those who don't know, Hardknott Pass is a 30% gradient - not sure the video does it justice??

Also passed this on the way there. Not sure how someone does that in a 40mph zone?

That looks a good run! thanks for the vid.
Cars on their roofs..... I wonder about the stability of modern cars - we had a spate of upended cars in Cardiff recently, and that was in the 30mph zones! They seem to flip at the slightest opportunity

Nice video, another one for "My to do list", as for your comment, " Not sure how someone does that in a 40mph zone?", we're talking car drivers here  :angry-banghead:.

Thanks. I've got the entire video of the Wynrose Pass too. Maybe I'll post it later if I get chance/find a better video editor given Win10 no longer has MovieMaker & the one I tried wants you to pay for using it  :dl_smiley_banghead:

One thing yesterday's ride highlighted was I think the steering head bearings need tightening slightly from when I changed them, as the steering seems too light and there was a bit of wobble on hard braking. Perhaps I'll do that tonight if the missus watches that strictly rubbish...

Oh, that crash was just before a speed camera so I can only guess whether they panicked at that, clipped the curb & went over...

Joined several others to ride a 50 mile route out from Route11 bike stop near Attleborough, Norfolk. Changeable weather but still a nice run and very good coffee before and after.

Short ride out into the Southern Cotswolds, through little villages and Fords.

Home for a clean and wipe down.

Also moved the screen down from the "secret position" to the higher of the standard ones as I really don't need it that high with the Givi Airflow. I moved it up that high 13 years ago when I got the bike so I was pleased that the bolts still turned. It looks like it cannot go all the way down with the position I have my Strombone fitted, but at least it is in the range covered by the manual now.

Buttertubs, Wrynose, Hardknott and Kirkstone passes. All in both directions. All on one tankful. 254 miles, some very low gear stuff, some very fast stuff on the route home. Nail riders, commiserations!

Thanks Rusty. :)
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

2017 DL650 first service. It rained all the way to the dealer (40mls). Got them to check the throttle action and now it is much less jerky (just cables). They loved my Givi bash plate!

Discovered I've overtightened the steering bearings on my test ride to Liverpool  :dl_smiley_banghead: It's an interesting sensation when the bike weaves slightly instead of going straight...

I'll have to fix it on Saturday after I ride back on Friday. Looks like half a turn back off from 45nm is too much, and quarter turn back off isn't enough

Fitted led headlight bulbs
Not too sure if this was a good thing
Main beam is useless, now
Might go back to the old bulbs

Thinking of getting a tow bar FITTED?

New Tourance on the back. Almost 15k miles out of the last one. And finally invested in a paddock stand. Should have done it years ago.

Happy days......

My beastie is all "first serviced" and now playing with more of the power.

I was out in the dark last night and using the LED lights for the first time and found they expand your view width ways massively. Especially as I could see the deer in the woods before it ran across in front me..

Having rode back from Liverpool last night I had another look at the steering bearing setting. Discovered why the steering was weaving when trying to go straight... no free play in the handlebars when the front wheel off the ground

Having adjusted them last night (45nm backed off half a turn this time) went for a short bimble to Hawes and Buttertubs Pass. Steering much better  :fix: however I'm undecided whether I should loosen them a bit more as the handlebars will go full lock to full lock with a gentle shove but it also stops short with  lighter one
