Where's it end up? ( Guessing it starts at Newcastle?) The trek south is boring, plus it's full of Southerners .

It's a pleasant way to get over the channel, but as it's the only option North of 'ull it's not that cheap. I've seen some of the drunkest people I've ever met on the ferry and a lot of people use it for stag & hen parties, which are usually entertaining  :obscene-drinkingchug:

Replaced the Michelin Pilot Road 4s c. 11,000 miles with some Dunlop Roadsmart 3s. Read some reviews that said they'd been designed to out perform the PR4s so thought I'd give them a try. Will update how I find them.

One thing I did notice is since removing the front calipers to swap the wheel out the brakes have a bit soft again (no leaks etc). Have cable tied the lever back again to see if it improves it again.

(Some pictures of the tyres below: PR4 rear, Dunlop Rear, PR4 front, Dunlop Front)

First ride on the bike since fitting the new tyres, forgot what it's like to ride on non-squared-off tyres. Nice that the bike turns in very keenly.

Before setting off I removed the cable tie from the front brake which still seemed soft. During the ride I triggered the ABS braking on a bumpy surface, after which the brake feels solid again. Something doesn't seem quite right, wondering if I do need to rebuild the calipers after all. Still, it's pretty firm now so no rush

Adjusted the main and dipped beam lamps vertical alignment. Since getting the bike hadn't ridden it in the dark until coming back from Holyhead (ferry) at just after midnight on Monday. Got a few flashes from on-comers and a couple of vehicles in front flashed brake lights at me. Think beams may be too high since altering the forks to compensate for lowering the rear.

No idea if they're OK now, just turned the adjusters a bit in the right direction. Will have to get out in the dark again.

Had a good longish run round Mid-Wales yesterday (the excuse being) to try out the Cosmo fork brace I fitted last week.
I'm impressed - the bike feels less nervous negotiating mid-corner bumps (plenty of those here in Wales!), and overall more "planted!.
And the VStrom.co.uk discount was nice, too  :)

Jeff in Wales, your dipped beam cut out line at 10 meters should be 25-50 cm lower than at the headlight.
That's per regulations 1.5o to 3o downward pointing.
In practice it translates to beam hitting the road  30-40 meters ahead of the vehicle.

Oil & filter change, first one since fitting a Motech bashplate.
Oh sh!t.. oil went everywhere!
There's a nice hole in the plate to access the drain but half hit the bashplate and found it's own way to the drive, nicely missing my catch bowl.
Need to improve my technique for next time.  :smirk:

Or just remove the bash plate? lol mine's only held on by four bolts. I'd spend more time clearing the mess up than what it takes to just take it off

I put Pirelli Angel GT"s on the bike this evening. Didn't get time to scrub them. Standard rear Bridgestone was replaced as soon as bike was run in due to a bad puncture. At just over 4000 miles  the front and rear replacement were at the indicators. Will see how long the Pirellis last.

Fitted a Ravetech satnav bracket which had arrived today in the post (Thank you Ravetech). Looks really good, just need to road trial it to see how it copes with rough British roads? Also in the post today a Givi XS308 tankbag. Adapter flange fitted to the fuel tank. Tankbag fits very nicely, though a road test also required just to see what it's like.  :auto-dirtbike:
