Just ridden it home after visiting the furthest westerly point on the UK - Ardnamurchan Pennisular.

Cracking weekend punting the Big Bird round tiny single track roads, pushing some limits as the roads opened out occasionally  :lala: and taking the road less travelled when the opportunity arose . . . . .

Little under 500 miles there and back again and the Big Bird returned over 63mpg for the whole run. What a fecking stunning machine

Started to tackle a TPS adjustment, removed the panels, popped the tank up then started to warm the engine when I noticed loads of smoke coming out from under the tank. Turns out one of the breather hoses - which a dealer replaced as they were trying to put it on the wrong connection under the tank - had moved and was resting on the rear exhaust header... now I'll have to replace the hose and scrape the melted plastic off the exhaust (need to move coolant expansion tank) before tackling the TPS adjustment  :dl_smiley_banghead:

To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

After a mostly fab weekend. The bike was a bit grubby so gave it a wash off took as many panels off as I could and acf 50 everything I could get into. Used my paint sprayer and compressor so went on lovely. Really impressed with the outcome. After seeing all the lovely bikes over the weekend it's inspired me to up my game and keep mine a bit cleaner/better condition. :D

After the tour with two names I set to to find out what was making the clacking sound that was most evident at low speed and when throttling back. I won't bore you all with the details but suffice to say  :shy: it is the rear chain. It does not have a tight spot. No. Nor a slack spot. It has a slack side and tight side When adjusted so the tight side has 25cm of play the slack side has 50cm of play and it slaps up and down on the plastic swing arm protector and would rather jump off the sprocket. Which is what it tries to do when the throttle is closed.
So off to the bike shop and I ordered a complete OE Sprockets and chain set and a new rear tyre. On the bright side I won't be charged labour for the tyre as the wheel will be out for the sprocket change.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can. Nothing travels faster than the speed of time.

Such a bummer about the tyre brocket as was a good tyre. Good you found your noise.  I thought it may have been chain related.   :fix:

Removed the rear wheel and took it to get the cheese stainless spokes changed under warranty (runs out mid June), helped by my fully charged grandaughter  :dl_hyperhysteria: .  Should be ready in a week hopefully

Washed the Cornish muck off it! Then fitted the Cymarc peg lowering kit. Must have done something wrong as they went on too easy!!! Still got to road test it but all seems OK sitting on the bike.
Hope it helps the arthritic hip ache I get after 45 mins - 1 hr!

Took it for the stator recall and got given a bag full of cartridges for my airbag vest for free. Might set it off in the office on Monday and scare the hell out of them all, or I could go to the fancy dress party tomorrow as some one wearing a vest that goes bang, but that might be a little insensitive.

Spent the afternoon sorting out the bikes home. I know it still looks like a craphole but it's now an organised craphole that has way more space to wheel it in and out :)
I'm happy

Ha it's all there just not together. I will get around to it one day. Then I won't be camping in a tent!

Dropped it.

At a give way junction (on a moderate slope), about to go left. Almost at a standstill in second, could just see over the hedge to my right that it was clear to go so I tried to. But didn't. Not enough gas, too much clutch (I'm a noob) and then I realised just how heavy and high this (stalled) bike is as it dumped itself on the ground.

First drop expect it won't be the last. Need to invest in some engine bars and reinforced bark busters next payday. Not sure if the Heed bars wil fit a 2017 650. The 2016 Givi ones do and I think the SW Motech ones so they probably will.

Clutch lever still works OK. Tank guard did it's job I suppose.
