Only thing that bugged me slightly is the green light telling you the setting. It's on the edge of my vision and as it goes in and out I keep thinking I've left the indicator on!

That's what sparky tape's for. There are strategically placed bits of sparky's tape all over my house, blocking (or dimming) those pesky LEDs.

Today - or rather, this week - I'm suffering from a chest infection.  :groan:  So the best I could do was strip my spare flip-up helmet to its component parts, and clean the hell out of it.

My bike's been off the road for 3-4 years, thanks to unemployment & lack of funds. Finally managed to save enough pennies to get her back on the road, and collected her last Saturday.   Unfortunately, I'll need to shake off this feckin chest infection before I can actually do something with her.

Other exciting stuff I've done is sort out & file all my bike paperwork, and dig out clothes from the loft. Got to do something in the mean time...

Can't remember, they were in a big bucket o' bits at the back of the shed.
....Just had a look on Alchemy, can't see them. Black alloy threaded body with a backnut, and a groove round the bezel.

These???

When my 'Kirky' lights failed I used these (or similar) and the only thing I found a problem was the quality of wire on them, not the easiest to strip and solder!

Look identical, Mick. Yes, skinny little wires. Not expecting much in the way of longevity, if all my other led lamps are anything to go by.

At the price it don't really matter too much how long they last in my opinion. If you search around you can get multiple sets for the price of a couple of pints!  :thumb:
Put mine in a bit of tube (like 'Kirky'), filled it with resin then shrink tubed it. 20/30 minutes of messing in the garage when nowt on tele.  :)
You can get different colours as well, red being an obvious one!!

Well we have done the magic 7000 miles and in she went for a service and recall work on the tappets.   While she was in they fitted the Cymarc leg lowering kit for me (free of charge) - well while they were at it and it was only a ten minute job :-)

The Cymarc peg kit has made the ride a lot more comfortable and bar the need to adjust the gear shift as it is a tad high the ride is now spot on.   The next purchase if needed will be either driving lights or handle bar raisers.

Finished running in my new Glee by riding snake pass, woodhead pass and back, met up with Ian, then headed to J&S in Northwich via Lymm Dam, bought some new boots and trousers, then back to Sheffield for a few belated birthday drinks. 200 miles in all and £400 lighter

Those cheap little LED marker lights are not bad, set on my Wee been there for over a year and still OK. What I found was to seal round the lens, stops any water getting in.

Found some fantastic single track roads between Otley and Skipton, although there was a cow on the track at one point which I thought was going to charge. It reminded me of the scene from Withnail & I (fortunately the mighty Strom scared them off).

This evening I drilled a hole in the dash surround to install a voltmeter. Got half way through drilling and thought 'this was a bad idea'. Persevered and all okay in the end (will post a pic tomorrow when it's back together). Also removed the side LEDs from the headlights as they keep going out = too loose. Unfortunately I put the original bulbs somewhere safe but too safe as no idea where they are  :old:

Bought a Keiss X25 jacket in the sale. Put the wiring in yesterday and took it out for a test. It was pretty chilly at around 7°C but the jacket was toasty. I didn't even turn it on as I was too warm even with just a tee shirt underneath and my HG jacket on top.
Turned it on when I got back just to make sure it's working and I can't imagine using it that often to be honest. If it's cold enough to need a heated jacket then it's probably to cold to be out on the bike anyway. May put it up for sale.

Happy so happy. I brought a new gear shifter from SW - Motech.
I was a bit unsure at first and I did'nt want to part with my money £100 plus post and packaging total £119.00.  :thumb:

It's fitted now real easy just the retaining ring a bit fiddly.  Shear comfort changing up and down no hip lock. Also brought the Sat- Nav bracket that fits under the Givi Airflow screen, just make sure you state you have a Givi airflow screen fitted and you will require the extra long screws and space's. Got them from the v strom shop on this site and configured the Sat Nav brackets from Ram UK. Had a bit of a hick up from Ram UK but they replaced the part and I kept the old one at £20 a time for the parts I think that was really fair of them.

All I need now is some day time running lights I won't be fitting these myself look at the givi one with the switch on the handle bars. Still confuse as to which ones are best suited to the v strom DL650?

Any ideas please.

Hi StromAir2014. Do you want the lights to see with or to be seen by the SMIDSY drivers?
If the latter I would suggest BikeVis Bullets with the modulator fitted very bright and makes you stand out.
I have them fitted inboard on my accessory bars and have wired them into a bigpie aux fusebox so that I can bypass the modulator if I get stopped by a bored Police officer with a copy of the Lighting Regs in his pocket!
Also although I didn't see it before I ordered mine I think Fat Rat has negotiated a forum discount.

Fitted a USB port to the Glee to power my phone when used as the sat have. Fitted the USB to the headstock with the supplied sticky pads, ran the cable under the tank back to the battery area and, having fitted the matching connector to the cable, now plug it in to the Optimate connector when required. Protected with a 10 amp fuse, all posts purchased from flea bay.
Now congratulating myself with a few beers!   :lala:

Nothing, went to the bike show at Stafford and met a fellow member in the Suzuki stand.Had a nice conversation about the 2017 model and the colours, needless to say several of the Suzuki owners had a very different opinions.
Lots of classic bikes but a bit out of my price range.
Overall a good day.

I finally got round to fitting the Givi Airflow screen. Not sure I'm overly keen on the look of it, but hopefully it'll reducing the wind noise and buffeting.

Yet another service, the 13th so far.

I had to draw another box in the service book as it only goes up to 12 :)

Anyone want to scan a blank Service Sheet page that I can glue in for next time?

Work on it myself I hear you say ..... No chance, that's why it is still running so well now.  :shy:
