Found an Aldi while on holiday in Wales last week with a Satnav for £149 so decided to make a ram mount for it

Cheers, I only had to drive 150 miles to get it, plus another 500 sight seeing then another 150 home.
800 miles in a Discovery, 24 mpg = bargain.

Just spent 2 days riding round Durham and the Yorkshire Dales. Bishop Aukland, Barnard Castle, Richmond, Reeth,  Hawes, Leyburn, Bellerby and overnight in Middleham. Back home to Tyneside via Hawes, Kirby Stephen, Brough,  Middleton Teesdale, Stanhope, Wolsingham and Durham. About 250 miles using about 17 litres of fuel, just a nits knacker under 65mpg.

Friday night went to check how much petrol was left in the tank, old style method open filler cap and look in. That's when I found I couldn't open the cap, eventually pulled it open to the sound of lots of air being sucked in  ###  ###. It's not been run for a few days so suspect that when it was recently serviced they may have nipped the breather pipe  :dl_smiley_banghead:. A job for me after work Saturday  :dl_hyperhysteria:.
Set about finding the cause after work, tank lifted and the cause found. :fix: When the service was done they must have pulled/moved the breather to gain access to change that sides plug. The pipe has a line on where it was bent double, took opportunity to look over other stuff just to be sure. Replaced the tank making sure that the pipe was pulled (from near the centre stand) so did not kink again. :thumb: Also found that two bolts had been left off that fasten the fairing to the frame, had to make some to fit but not very pleased to put it mildly.  :dl_smiley_banghead: :icon_batterup:

Tested today and no problem at all.

Went for a run on the Vee on Sunday. Got a misfire at low rpms, was fine once up/over 3500, but couldn't do that in lower gears as it would go from one to two cylinders in a blink of an eye and make me look like I was going for the "riding god who wheelies round corners" award - or, in my case..."That fat bloke on the bike that wheelied into the hedge" award.

Anyway, despite my warnings to others concerning Vee misfiring & the resulting burning fuel in the cat/exhaust, I ignored my head and soldiered on, convinced it would clear iteslf/dodgy fuel/water in the tank/hamsters nesting in the airbox. Finally, about 70miles from home it caught fire

Luckily I had just stopped at a junction and smelt the burning plastic. I jumped off, whipped off the seat and doused the bugger in 500ml of Lidl's finest eau-de-tap. Fire's out and a nice puddle of molten plastic on the chain guard/ground. Recovered by the AA, 20 minutes to the first van & a sorry can't fix it, 65 minutes to the second van with the tow dolly, 30 minutes to assemble the bike ramp on the towing dolly and 60 minutes to fix the broken wiring on the dolly's trailer lightboard :dl_smiley_banghead: . Called AA at 13:30, home at 18:30. Thank feck it wasn't raining. I was pissed off by then so I slung it in the shed and I'll look at it later.

Ordered the replacement coils etc including a very reasonable £30 for an '08 secondhand undertray. Should get it working again this weekend.

Wife suggested I immediately replace it and said "why don't you get one of those BMW's your mates have all got, just do that PCP thingy"  :dl_soapbox:  :fix:  :violence-smack:

Got me thinking though...now looking at near new XT1200 Super Ten  - £9k for a v.low mile fully loaded '15 plate.....hmmmm

Fitted another pair of Anakee 3's. Thought about having a change but got 13000 miles out of the last pair and the fitter said if it was him he wouldn't have bothered changing the rear for another couple of thousand!! It was squared off a bit but plenty of tread! Took it home with me just in case??
Also fitted a set of frame protectors from Cymarc. Five minute job and should stop any more paint wear!!
PS, nice bit of kit Cymarc!  :thumb:

You need to buy a motorcycle. Much cheaper to run.
