Just sailed through my first MoT at 19,500 miles. I still can't believe I've'e had it 3 years already! I wouldn't change it for anything else, (though I may add to my stable ).

Not today but Sunday. Tightened the chain. Changed the oil and filter although the old oil seemed decent enough since it had only done 6000 miles.

Today put Adventure A40s so a fair bit of slow careful riding until the shit is cleaned from it.

Over weekend.
Stripped rear end down, cleaned and repainted all rusty bits, cleaned and gave caliper a coat of silk black, new rear brake line, refurbished master cylinder, new pads, painted spring on shock as rusty, repainted suspension links, re logo'ed side panels and gave coat of clear over the top to stop the bloody things coming off, put it all back together, now front end stripped, brakes having same treatment, cleaned off top of engine ready to do a service.

Hope !!!!, to have it all back together next week end, looking almost new again !!!

My new Sargent seat made it possible... the standard seat usually had me crippled in around half that.  Was a great day out though with temps from 6 - 28 deg.

Fitted my bigpie aux fusebox but ran out of time to carry on getting the body work off to run the cables through for new heated grips, satnav and BikeVis led's .

well, not a good day, ordered a 2nd hand chain guard off e bay, has got v strom cut into it, however, it does not fit, hole spacings miles out, must be for a 1000 or newer bike, oh well, modification time, worked out how to do it using parts off the plastic guard.
Ordered some new flush fit front indicators, as my sticky out ones wobble, arrived today, sent incorrect ones. Oh well, waiting again for correct ones to turn up.

Spent 3 hours I should have been riding in the sun stripping down the starter switch and reassembling it twice only to find the bike wouldn't start due to an aftermarket clutch lever on the 1 setting.....FFS :fix: The bike is mint and gleaming as only used in Spring/Summer so wondered why the starter button would fail/corrode. Fiddly business getting all the bits with the spring in place back in...very agricultural in design too.

It was inevitably going to happen - I knocked out the baffles of my already decatted  stock exhaust.
A courtesy run out to scrub the A40s & check the quality of exhaust work :)

Removed the bodywork and raised the tank to allow better access to run my bigpie headlight relay loom, satnav and heated grips power leads through to the front of the bike.
Took my time, most of the day, to try and not make any mistakes or break the plastics and got it done in the end. Also ran my BikeVis led's wiring from the accessory bars back to my aux fuse box but ran out of time to connect them as had trouble with crimping the terminals.
Would just like to say  :ty: to bigpie for not only making the bits for me but also answering several questions which gave me the confidence to have a go.

After reading about cleaning the front sprocket area on this illustrious forum, I thought I'd check mine out. :fix:

There was a certain amount of crud in there, but not as much as some have found, although I'm only on 8,000 miles. Worst was the spacer that fits behind the topmost slave cylinder bolt. The bike's a few grams lighter now, anyhoo...

The fellow on the youtube video makes it look very easy although I suppose he's been doing it day in day out. Try fitting the damn thing with a hugger.

Anyway, now to test ride it tomorrow for around 160 miles and see how it behaves.

Hi All
If I have done this correctly you should find some pictures of the work I have done for last two weeks, getting rid of the winter rust and crud, I have also fitted new stainless brake lines front and rear, and also tarted up my rad cover I made last year. New decals, which are clear coated over, and lots of painting here and there.
Its all ready to go out and get rusty again !!!!

I finally got out for a ride (just my third of the year as work is really getting in the way) and decided on the usual "just disappear down some narrow lanes and keep going" option. I take a Sat Nav with me just to give me the option of seeing where I have been when I get home.

Today was just 58 miles in 2 hours, so a really low average speed that reflects some of the roads I was on.

At one point I found myself going along some skinny lane for several miles without seeing anyone, when suddenly my Sat Nav (very accurately) told me the following ....

Tall, Dark and Handsome (In 1987) - Just tall now !!
