Cleaned the brakes which were shocking - really need to take better care of them over winter.

Started to clean the grime off the underside of the bike as the centre stand was sticking. Decided my bike needs a thorough decreasing as she's a filthy beast. Also discovered the nut collar with notches below is actually silver not black, and seems to rotate (am thinking it's not supposed to)

I've discovered my bike now needs its first mot so I'll either be risking it or going to work on my xt225 on knobbly tyres that life just finished top end rebuild on.

After just over two years and only about 14000miles, sold my DL1000 and will be joining traitors corner as I've bought a BMW 1200 GS

I think we need a new thread, something more derogatory appropriate than a traitor for weekend solicitors and accountants bikes

My bike had its 12mth service today, £250 a bit steep but I trust them to do the job properly.

One of my Kirky lights had failed so made some more using these, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-12V-Car-Motorcycle-10W-LED-Eagle-Eye-Daytime-Running-DRL-Tail-Light-Lamp-Bac-/191579175614?hash=item2c9b023abe:g:jZcAAOSwEeFVUydv. Fitted & wired them in all working great..................then modified some Givi lights I bought, fitted &wired them in (using the same power source) blew the 5amp fuse!!!! ###  maybe cocked up the wiring or should I have used a higher rated fuse? Know what I'll be doing tomorrow!

They shouldn't blow a 5amp. 10watts each so 20watt at 12v is 1.66 amp.

Went for a quick blast to Llandovery via Builth Wells, all day breakfast in the owls nest cafe in Llandovery, excellent value if anyone is ever over this way, £5 for a small breakfast including hot drink. Back home via Brecon.  :sunny:
This bike is such good fun, 225 miles on the last tank before the light started to flash  :lala:

Not today but yesterday went to the IAM skills day at Croft circuit near Darlington. This was not a 'track day' but it was on a track. There was a 90 mph limit imposed and all the boy racers were told to put their baffles back in as the decibel level would be monitored and anyone exceeding either restriction would be flagged off.
After being split into groups we had 20 mins briefing on a particular skill, 20 mins practising it on the track followed by 20 mins debrief/cooldown x 6. So 6 x 20 mins on the track in all. Very well organised and a good format for learning.
I'd like to say I learned a lot and that it all clicked into place but it didn't. Even on my last lap of the day I was making lots of mistakes. Having said that, I would definitely do it again just for the fun of blasting round knowing that nothing is coming the other way.
BTW, mine was the only strom there.
Oh, and the reason I didn't post yesterday was that I was absolutely knackered when I got home. Didn't realise it would take so much out of me.
Hear all, see all, say nowt

Did my Bikesafe course with the Powys Police, all good. Very worthwhile, it's amazing what a refresher can do.
120 miles of observation + films and theory. Rain in the morning but it turned out fine in the afternoon.

Kicked it for picking up a nail in the rear tyre :groan:
Lots of rides planned for the weekend so needed the bike, so took wheel out put in the car and went looking for a replacement (they were getting changed at the service next month anyway), local Suzuki dealer had the time but not the tyre in stock, other dealer had the tyre but not the time, Suzuki dealer lent me a bike, helmet and jacket to go and collect the tyre (York is grid locked most weekends so would have been a nightmare in the car), that's good service from them and they fitted the tyre as soon as I got back with it. So now I have a A40 fitted, not a bad match with the worn front death-wing, only done 110 miles but these tyres are not bad, missed all the rain so not sure of wet grip yet. Missed the porkpie  that we had ordered and the fish and chips we were supposed to have, due to a silly little nail. I have ordered a puncture repair kit to go with my mini air pump, should have done this earlier  :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead:

No need to blame my 'bike for your misfortunes Paul....

Kicked it for picking up a nail in the rear tyre and again... due to a silly little nail.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Yesterday rode up to York (little treat for our 40th anniversary), stopped at Squire's for a break on the way, it was rammed, not surprising though with the sun blazing!
Bikes been sat in the car park all day while we had a walk round York. Tomorrow if the weather holds, might take the long way home!
