Found a screw in the side of my 4 month old PR4 :-(

It can't be repaired due to the location of the hole, so time for a new tyre. This is the second puncture in a matter of weeks - oh the joys of commuting into London!

Took it to dealer Monday for the recall work. (Got the letter from DVSA on Tuesday) asked them to do the 14,500 service while they had it. Got a call Wednesday to say it was ready for collection. Picked it up today.
Nothing wrong recall wise but they changed a shim while they were in there, they didn't charge for that. The service cost me £220 (£144 of that was labour - 2 1/2 hrs) + oil, filters, plugs etc.
That's it for the main dealer now, the rest will be done by me or what I can't do, the local bike shop down the road!
It will need tyres soon but they'll wait for a couple of months!!

Finally got round to "fixing" the cheap led lights so they don't cycle through three modes.   I also fitted the side stand enlarger (ordered from Portugal) and had clearance issues with original Suzuki main stand  minor adjustment to rebound bung needed to make things OK but shouldn't really have needed to.

Beautiful day for ride in the mountains over the ocean. 20ºC temperature. Love my Southern Portugal where we ride all the year, with 300 sunny days a year and minimum winter temperatures of 10ºC.

Put new tyres on, the old ones had the puncture sealant stuff in them so made a bit of a mess but nothing a sluice down with plenty water couldn't clean up. Drained the fork oil and refilled, I was going to do the steering bearings but couldn't find anything to get the peg nut off with so that'll wait a wee while.  Also degreased all the bits that I'd put Waxoyl on prior to the start of the winter, looks a lot better now all the road muck and crap has gone.

Installed the indicator buzzers and started to read the manual (piece of paper actually) on how to install the gear indicator

Had a little ride the other day with the fiancée and even managed to meet a lovely bird whilst I was out..! :groan:
Enjoyed the last of the snow and the first of the sunshine  :icon_razz: !

Time now to give the bike some TLC I think!
Planning on getting my front brakes cleaned, pistons and pads replaced, rear break pivot sorted (sticking when depressed) then stripping every single bolt I can find and coating them in copper grease, repainting the pannier racks. Giving everything a good clean and coating with ACF 50 ready for my summer days and commutes as unfortunately the rain and salt wreak havoc during the winter commutes  :bawl: .

Spent the lovely day yesterday wandering around west Norfolk and east Cambs on my Glee. After visibility of about 40m at 06:00h when walking the dog didn't think I would be able to take advantage of the wife being away on my daughter's hen weekend but several hours and 130 miles further reinforced what a good choice the Glee was.
Only concern as the day got warmer a small amount of condensation appeared in the instrument case and was still there when got home. Presume as bike been unused in cold garage for several weeks?

Took the wife out for an hour on the bike yesterday after doing "run what you brung" (not on the strom). Then managed to get out today for 2-3hrs following my TomTom winding route around Macclesfield, Buxton, Whalley Bridge and Bakewell. First time I used it and had it set to the smallest road option- Brilliant! Every road was good it even corrected when I turning off down a green lane.
1st proper ride this year, 1st time offroad this year, 1st wheelie and 1st little jump (not entirely planned)

Took the DL650 for its 11000 mile service. No issues, just the specified checks and replacements as per the owners manual.
£197 and completed in around 2 and a bit hours.
The recall is being done next month although the bike runs very well and starts on the button every time and runs great  :thumb:

Replaced my bulbs after one of my Philips Blue Visions went out recently (bought in 2012/13 so not lasted too bad)

Here's a pic of the Blue Vision (left) and OEM. Then a few pictures of the replacement Philips X-treme Vision bulbs (close up, mid-distant, high-beam)

Edit: no idea why my pictures always upload sideways

Took the Wee out for the first run out today, after fitting a few bits over winter. A gpr exhaust that I brought of Earthcore, a gpi from Bigpie, scotoiler, and a few more small bit and bobs. Exhaust sounds great :auto-dirtbike: :lala:

320 mile run from Fife to Lochgilphead via Loch Earn, Dalmaly, Glen Lohan with a wee detour up a dead end road, which was brilliant. Narrow, twisty, shocking surface and some seriously adverse cambers.
Then back via Inverary, Loch Lomond, Stirling and Hillfoots.
Misty in Fife but glorious sunshine from Perth

Goodness me, is that the time?

Took the 'Deathwing' tyres off  (before they caused me to have an accident in the wet) and replaced them with a brand new set of these ...

http://moto.michelin.co.uk/tyres/michelin-pilot-road-4-trail

Whilst the wheels were off (bitch of a job to do on my own, without paddock stands or a trolley jack, by the way  :angry-banghead:), I took the opportunity to fit some 7mm shorter 'dog bones', which have raised the saddle (from ground) height by about an inch. Not much, but it all helps  - feels more like an R1200GS than ever now  :lala:!

Also, popped this on, to help keep the bike upright now that the swing-arm is at a slightly steeper angle - it worked a treat  :)!

After all that, rode down to Wesson's (biker) cafe and had the best Full English breakfast anywhere in the south of England   :bow-blue:.

Not a bad day really  :thumb:.

Passed the MOT with flying colours. No mention of the LED bulbs either, so they must be OK!

Broke it. Nearly dropped it  nearly did this :-x
riding home from work after a nice day and an early stack through the Staffordshire countryside a very large pheasant decided to take on my bike at 60 mph. Ouch  ###
Scrap one mudguard extender, Kirkys light ( the only one working)
and a very sore knee.  :groan:
At least I stayed on thank the stars, and yes the flippin bird was dead. Now sat at home drinking wine to ease the pain.  :happydance::happydance:

Pheasant for tea...?

Glad you're OK. It could have been so very different.
