Today I brought it out from the garage, rode it 100 miles in lovely sunny weather/dry roads, SO much fun, I love my (2008) V-Strom DL1000GT!!

Nowt,

I have looked at it through the living room window a couple of times recently and thought the oil looks low,

Will have to top it up before I take it off sorn!

Might even service it over the next couple of weeks.

Got big plans for it over this summer (company car policy has changed so even though I still can;t use it for commuting I should have some spare cash to throw at it this year)

YAY.......

(fingers and toes crossed)

Just ordered them brake hoses, full set: 2 front hoses and the rear, all with stainless steel fittings and banjo bolts included. Came to a very reasonable £77.36 all in (VAT + delivery) and I should have them in 2-3 working days. That's quite quick for getting custom hoses made up and sent out.

Earl's Performance Parts if anyone is interested. Called them because the lengths they list on the website only increments in 50mm bits. Friendly each time I called and quick to respond to email. They've apparently been around in the UK since the 1980s, before that they were only US based.

Handlebars have also been reserved at Bikers World so will collect them this weekend or next.

Going to start it this weekend , thinking of fitting the plate to the underside of the original skid plate but putting spacers of about 8mm between , it will then cover the exposed part of the exhaust. It will only be on the underside and not up the sides . I'll bring it up the front of the original to the second bend (if you know what I mean) this will still allow air to get to the oil cooler . I plan on fixing it with m8 button head bolts in stainless .

This is the plan anyway , if it goes OK you'll see it on ST3 . It may even get tested  :)

I like it, looks nice & neat. You could sell those little shelves if you wanted to :thumb:

I've still got plenty of metal, but my angle grinder burnt out half way through the third one. If I find another grinder at the right price I'll knock a couple up for the good people of the site. If anyone wants some metal? I'll be bringing Hutchie some to ST3.

Ridden to Cleveden Pier and back. I didn't see any Dirty Hawes, but did have the worlds most calorific and greasy baguette.

All those posts about side winds came in useful on the M4 section downhill from the Bath junction, where I have seen several totalled caravans in my time.

Chain clean and oil and scottoiler top-up.
Cleaned front sprocket area
Changed air filter - only needed cleaning but I stood on it...
Cleaned and gapped plugs
Replaced worn top two fairing screws
Drained 200ml of oil (overfilled last week)
Waterproofed my headlight relays
Added insulating foam sleeves to my levers
Cleaned the first of many green, corroded earth blocks
Sprayed everything in ACF50

Found the cause of my my oil leak!  Rear hose in the pic below had come off.

Removed every crappy connector behind the radiator (two more to go in this pic) - cleaned and soldered the spades, then two layers of insulating tape - drawn all the way down from the handlebars to keep out run-off.

Should my butterflies be this colour?

Took the cover off, started her up.
Checked all switches & lights.
Brakes appear to be working OK, road test tomorrow if fine.

Work today:
Mr Kiplings indicator mod
mudguard extender
Fork Brace (by Berndi, report will follow ST3)
Standard Bash plate sent to be tweaked to fit with new Givi crash bars
Screen off & cleaned off last years bugs
Tried on Slipscreen

A few bits left for tomorrow, including new oil & filter, but may concentrate on cleaning and wait till new air filter arrives next week.
