As it was dry today and the boss has plans for me next weekend and my tax runs out at the end of October I went a wee run out.  Filled up with BP super unleaded on the way home and added fuel stabiliser, so that's me for another year.

Out at dawn to use the dry window the Met office said I had.
A balmy 12c with wet roads, but no rain ..yet.
I head south directly into a 40 mph head wind.
An hour and a half in I stop at Framlingham Castle to get the overjacket out of the engine bags and set off into the wind again.
I make it through Rendlesham Forest and nearly down to Orford Ness before the first rain hits.
Turning the bike round it is now a straight race back home with a tail wind and the clouds at my back.
Get home mostly dry and 10 mins after the bike is back in the garage it hoofs it down.
Proof Vstroms CAN out run the wind :icon_wink:

If you read my earlier posts about buying the 800RE & having the Suzuki rails & panniers fitted, that sit higher than the seat & were rubbing against the good ladies legs, then this is the outcome .... ish.
We had the seat reupholstered to raise the pillion section 2" to compensate for Suzuki's poor ergonomics. Today was the first day we could get out to give it a proper test.
We fitted the panniers & set off for a ride into North Derbyshire in search of food. All was well with the new seat regarding Deb's problems. Her legs still touched the panniers but weren't pressing/rubbing as before. The seat is also more comfortable. So far so good.
However, for me, the way the seat has been 'made' with a very vertical bit right behind me it is pressing into the small of my back. Despite feeling OK I think it will eventually annoy me too much & it will have to go back for alteration.
It was a great day out, the weather was excellent & we managed to find food & drink.  :)
Photos to prove it happened & one close up of the bike to show the seat.

Agreed Mick, that upright panel needs sloping back a little.
Glad it's sorted Er'Indoors out.

Nice bit of customisation there, not a cheap exercise but well worth it if it makes your other half comfortable. The vertical back does seem a bit intrusive, if it’s annoying now then definitely go back sooner rather than later. Looks great though  :thumb:

No riding now, just tinkering. Made a custom bracket to mount both the Oxford heated grips control and my auxiliary light buttons. Quick job for the laser, looks alright I think… at least it’s tidy.  :)

Removed the Scottoiler X System2 today, as I’m now retired so my mileage has plummeted. Will just use normal chain lube and not have all the ‘fling’ to clean up all the while.
