Went house hunting last before our trip, but I didn’t think I wanted to live in Spanker Lane

timangus, were you planning to move to Derby(shire), or is it a popular name?

I had today booked off on AL and as the weather here was glorious, I headed out on Bullseye to clock up the last of his first 1k miles, if you see what I mean. Had a lovely hoon around The Cotswolds and managed to get a much better pic beside my favourite road sign...

Today I took advantage of the nice weather and went for a ride ending with a stop at a pressure washer to carefully clean away the worst of the grime off my bike. I then washed it with car shampoo, rinsed it off and waited for the bike to dry. Next was a copious amount of ACF50.

I feel good.  :lala:

Short ride up through Gloucestershire and in to Oxfordshire, just to let a friends dog out for a pee.

Then home again.

Nice to be in a position to take any excuse for a ride just once in a while.

The vinyl frame protectors finally turned up from Pagetts to go with the rubber heal pads I collected from Fowlers in Bristol on Saturday. Very happy with the end result. Little bit spendy but not ridiculous.

MOT day today.

Passed with one advisory; slight fluctuation of front brake effort.

Oddly that is the same advisory the same tester gave me two years ago, but last year, at a different garage (a Suzuki dealer), no advisory at all.

Mind, the same tester gave me an advisory on an Armstrong MT500 that I had at the time, he felt a rear wheel bearing might be going... unlikely as there were six of the things in the back wheel, two in the cush drive and four in the wheel itself.

I couldn't feel any play at all when I checked, so I gave the spindle a grunt with a big spanner and called it good.
The older I get, the better I was.

Took it for its first MoT since 2017, passed with no advisories which is a relief considering the work I’ve put into it

Today I took my V-Strom for a ride. I chose a direction not a destination and ended up at The Lizard Point, Cornwall. The furthest south in England.

On the way home I turned onto the A30 and as it went dark my headlight went out, probably the bulb but I have'nt checked the fuse yet.

I turned off the A30 and used B roads for the rest of my journey, following cars and using their headlights to see where I was going. I turned the fog lights on but they only light 4ft in front of me so not a lot of use.

What am I doing tomorrow? Fixing the headlight hoping it is just the fuse but knowing it's not.   :bawl:  :thumb:

That's a pain Doc - good job you had fog lights. Fingers crossed you get it sorted quickly and it's only the bulb. One of the reasons I can't see me buying a single headlight V Strom as I ride a lot at night.

I had another trip to the office in Liverpool. Seems like the traffic is getting worse than a few months ago  :shy:

Well it is a blown bulb. I have ordered Osram H4 12V 60/55W +150% Night Breaker Laser bulbs from eBay, they come in a pack of two for £21 ish. No night riding for the next couple of nights but should be hear on Saturday.

I am going to Liverpool next week, I'm looking forward to seeing the family but not the drive there. I can't go on the bike because my Brother and Sister don't drive and I want to take them somewhere nice, still, most of the holiday traffic will be gone now so the drive home should be easier.  :thumb:

After an entire afternoon of cleaning and detailing on Sunday, today was pre-flight checks before we set off on the ABR Welsh 10 route tomorrow.
3 days of hilltop passes beckon in the land of constantly worried sheep, fingers crossed we can dodge some of the storms :)

This just North of Naples this morning.
27c unless you're stuck in an Italian tunnel and it's 33.
Still going South, at Patierno tonight.
Pfffffffft.

Doc 46, the 2014 on vstrom thou doesn't use an H4 bulb, low beam is an H7, high an H9 and there awkward to fit, best to remove the instrument panel.
Sorry doc on rereading I guess you where talking about your 650.

Gorgeous evening which is rare in Cumbria, let alone in September. Went for a blast along the coast and popped into St Bees for a photo.
