The rain finally stopped and the sun came out, so a nice wee ride including an ascent of the "wall of talla" and past Megget reservoir. Bring on the sunshine ☀️ 😀

I rode the Crieff Cloverleaf last year and one of the four routes takes you along that road past Talla and Megett.

What an amazing place, and one I would never have known to visit had I not been riding the cloverleaf.
The older I get, the better I was.

Rode it over to Rochdale so the missus could pick up her new steed.
She was very sad to let the Scrambler go after 23k miles from new but the Himalayan is a charming little thing and it's already getting under her skin.

Sorted my BMW insurance today,  pleasantly surprised because its now below £200 tpft

Every year now,  its a different insurer with all our vehicles as it seems they don't want to look after and keep existing customers so every year I'm a new customer....  :icon_wink:

Yet they all spout guff like " you'll get the same renewal deal as any new customer". Which reminds me, my Bennetts has gone up by almost 50% on last year. Time to shop around.

Had my first 200 mile day on the 800RE. Irritating at times thanks to HS2 road closures, but got away from the area eventually and had a cracking day. Smidge irritating only having 5k revs for now but the seat seems to suit me well and the fairly soft suspension is pretty good on the copious potholes I encountered.  Now up to 300 miles the average mpg is just over 62 and the handling is absolutely great. Still very glad I bought one.

I went out on my DL1000 today for the first time since having an operation three weeks ago. I tried sitting on the bike but it was a painful stretch to the ground and the operation site did start to open in places so I bought a low seat from Den of this site and it's made a massive difference. I've emptied a full tank today, not all in one go as I needed to stop for a tea and a pee but it's been a great day.

I am very very HAPPY!  :thumb: :lala:  :happydance:

A run upto Hunstanton today,
The front was rammed with bikes and as I was feeling fractous and don't really like those crowds rode straight on through.
Took a different way home which turned out eventful.
Came up on a  '24 Tracer 9 who was up for some fun and riding well so I tagged along.
Shit are they fast.
But boy do they bounce on that semi active suspension.
After  10/15 miles we parted with a wave I took a b home and had a bloke on a 125 step through Honda fall off in front of me.
I saw him coming up to the  T junction on my right and thought " he's going too quick to stop" , I slowed and he ended up coming across the road and dropping it right in front of me, he sort of stepped off at a stand still.
I asked if he was OK after he had picked the still running undamaged bike up, he said yes.
I said OK, now get that out of my way you Prick.
Sometimes you get the carrot and sometimes the stick  :icon_wink:

About 10 miles from home on some real tight backroads 3 groups of Japanese/Korean? girls were hiking down the road with back packs and tents .......and for some reason seemed to like the Strom and where jumping and waving with big assed smiles as I rode slowly past...........I looked behind to check the tailpack wasn't on fire .......nope.

Did wonders for my fractous mood though.

Me and the missus rook it out for a little 120 mile round trip. Stopped at Shobden airfield for dinner at their little cafe and watched some small aircraft taking off and landing.

A delightful run over the Gospel pass to Hay. Early enough to miss the worst of the festival traffic but not too early for a second breakfast.

Had a “cafe au lait” at The Green Howards Tabac in Crepon, Normandy then tried to mingle with the local Gendamerie at Arromanches.

I went out for an early morning ride the other week only to be met with thick fog and no fog lights.

As I had no where to mount my old lights,I sourced some high crash bars from Heed in Poland which I have now fitted to the 800 RE along with the lights.
On a short run out today I stopped the bike to see how much of a difference the lights make as daytime running lights and I think I will be using  them a bit more in this role due to the smaller headlight on my bike.

Weather permitting tomorrow we should be going out for a good ride around the Yorkshire Moors or Dales to try out our new Oxford folding chairs while we have a cuppa.
