this Morning I removed my powerlet socket as a wire on the back had come out. I replaced it with a struggle and checked. Works OK now it seems. No idea how the negative wire came loose. Also looked into the possibility of moving the sockets under my seat. Il have to make a bracket, L shaped to fit under the seat locking mechanism. Plenty of room to do it. I really liked them by the front, but they looked really easy to nick , and where I work my bike is locked up but easy to get at. Mind you, gives me another reason to bodge  about in my garage :)

Washed the beastie down on Friday - in time to beat the hosepipe ban... Today, wiped down with a few microfibre cloths and some Megewyewyewyars Quik Detailer and put a shine on the bits that should be shiny....

Serviced the rear brake caliper, put some new seals, fresh brake fluid and new EBC HH pads in too. Also fitted the new brake hose I got for the rear. Stuck on my Simoncelli stickers, one on each side panel and also stuck on some Earls Performance, K&N and Yacugar Suspension stickers. Chain got cleaned and PD Oiler wick got trimmed a bit.

New k&m air filter- oiled chain - removed some fastenings that were showing signs of corrosion cleaned and replaced- and general clean. To say that I usually only ride in dry weather the amount of corrosion I think is excessive for a 09 bike.

Received my radiator covers from Cymarc today, did a 15 hour work day then fitted them when I got home. Beautifully made kit and under £80 delivered, only ordered on Thursday!

CSE1 / Kwarr: I've got the tall Vario and the Madstad bracket and the difference is considerable. Might be worth trawling the Screens section for further advice, but in a nutshell it's the rake of the screen which makes the biggest difference..

BTW I'm 6'2" and sitting a tad higher than standard on a Suzuki gel seat if that helps?

I'm a gnats todger shy of 6'1". Yes agreed I havent had all the fiddling positions on it tried in earnest yet.

Maybe it is actually a little better - cos I can hear the radio better at speed, but it is still quite noisy, buffetty.

Not done today but over the last few weeks.

I decided it was time to spend some money on my 2004 650.
First stage fit some Aprillia Tuono wing mirrors. I like the look, less elephantine, but find the view isn't as good however it has decreased the buffeting around the shoulder area.
I have the valves done at a local outfit. PDQ at Taplow Bucks. Very good service and also adjusted my clutch and informed me that the rear disc should be replaced soon and that the rear wheel bearings could also do with being replaced. Jobs I can do my self. All for £173.

worked this morning, but when I got home I removed the seat locking mechanism, measured up and made a steel bracket using a small piece of 1.5mm steel sheet, my "borrowed" dremmel (my elder brothers), a hand saw, a drill, a hand file and a stepped drill bit like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STEP-DRILLS-4-32mm-Cone-Cutter-Spiral-Flute-/220629588350?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item335e8c597e

I had to use a spare stainless steel bolt to replace the bolt on the mechanism as it was too short to fit a bolt under it. I measured up and cut it to size. checked everything fitted and worked, then took it all apart to spray the bracket.

Today I went the longer way to work so had a nice ride. then when got to work realised how much fling I was getting from my hain oiler it was sent to drip every 20 seconds. So adjusted that and set about cleaning the mess off, still got  some to clean around the front sprocket.

Took a run up the M3 to Eel Pie Island, sat in the sun and had lunch with some friends then a grand spin back home in time for Tea. Great Day.  :)))   :thumb:

Back tyre was shot on my DL1000, so took an all round 75 mile run and got a new Metzeler Tourance fitted today, glorious sunshine (at last), £100 fitted, pretty good I thought. Got it fitted by Strathern Tyres in Creiff, Perthshire.

Last week I fitted a Renthal 43 tooth rear sprocket, so had a good run out today to test it, superb actually! When in (6th) top gear it feels like 5th, lovely pulling power, should have done it yonks ago, great benefits!

Love these changes, makes the V-Strom DL1000 more agile.

fitted my duel outlet metal mounting bracket I made onto sasha, under the seat locking mechanism. the wire goes behind the abs fuses along the under tray, through the drain hole and up to the powerlet and cigarette outlet. looks good too. took about 30 mins to fit though as my podgy fingers made it slightly harder lol. checked and all works fine with no loss of space (what I use that is)
