Finally got a few hours to continue the brake re-build. Copper grease for the brake pad backings, red grease for anything that touches rubber and ceramic grease for everything else… shame it all looks the same black yuck after a few hundred miles.  :)

Have fitted the bracket and fed the cable through for my xmas pressie.... Tom Tom Rider 550.  Was trying to just use Google Maps on my phone with it shouting directions at me via my Bluetooth Headset but it always seem to lag behind a bit or I mishear the direction.

Have ordered the @BigPie Switched Fusebox to make sure it's a decent install.

Fitted a new number plate light - not sure how long that had been blown but it's all done now.  Was tempted to 'update' it for a LED instead but decided against it.

Looked at it longingly in garage hoping it's going be a good year next year.

Looking very, very good. As is the rest of the bike. Only it's shape and reg. plate would give away it's age.

What have I done with my V-Strom today?

Got to be honest, I haven't touched it since last year.

I've done a 100 mile ride in the Cotswolds on my 650 Strom with a local group. Great way to the start the year, though the post-ride clean up was less enjoyable!

I've been stuck inside since Christmas with man flu but woke up this morning feeling good so a little run out to get some fresh air was the plan. We were heading to Monyash when a big black cloud appeared on the horizon, another mile & the rain started so we turned around and headed back, cold is OK, cold & wet, not so much! Once we'd turned the sun was shining in the West so decided a quick run up the A38 to The National Memorial Arboretum would be good. Nice bowl of soup then a short walk around & back home. Just short of 60 miles but a nice start to 2023.
The soup?  Because it's a new year, new me!

After 3 months off for extensive servicing work, got about 120 miles in today. Was as low as 2 degrees over the tops which was pretty nippy but she ran an absolute dream. Great to be back out.

Flash Bar cafe?
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

We didn't quite get that far North but did make it to Monyash today. It was definitely colder than yesterday so the heated jackets & grips were tested today, all working nicely thank you. Except, I did get a bit worried when I looked at the volt meter after a mile or so. It was showing 13.2 volts, thought there might be a problem but then realised I'd forgotten to turn my n/side headlight off!!  :shy: Back to 14.1 volts.  :thumb:
Quite a few had made the effort on the day.
The diet was still in order so just a sausage & egg cob but Deb said she couldn't "eat the half a Pig" in hers so mine turned out to be sausage, bacon & egg.  :)
I was so proud of myself for keeping to my diet I treated myself to a bit of cake.  Came back the long way round & put another 70 miles on it.

Being the first clear day both from rain and work I got busy,

1. Wash the bike (Muc off pink stuff)
2. Clean the chain and sprockets, Check tension, re-lube the chain (Muc off all weather lubricant).
3. Re apply water repellent (Nicwax) on the screen, lights, mirrors, clocks and helmet visor.
4. Check fluids, tyre pressures, lights, steering and brakes.
5. Fix Beeline bracket in a better position (the handle bars middle section was too low and awkward). now sits above the rev counter.
6. Top up the waterproofing on my tank bag (Nicwax)
7. Fix an Anchor point.
8. Kick the neighbours cat up the arse for s*@$%*@£ in my garden. It should count itself lucky I didn't unleash the JRT to do my bidding  lol
9. DTS (Dads Taxis Service)
10. Walk the dog

It was Brocket! A very moist sponge cake flavoured in a Bakewell Tart way.
I'm going with 2 X :icon_drool5: :icon_drool5:
