I took a train down to London on Monday, I was shocked to see how the grass and trees turned from green where I live (Cumbria) to what looked like Spain! All the grass just looked dead and the trees wilting, definitely need some rain. In Cumbria though we have rain almost every other day, so no problem with droughts up here.

Went to Kelham Island Museum in Sheffield today. On the way back we rode past Ladybower Reservoir,I think it was the lowest I have ever seen it except for once in the 90’s when we had another barren year.
We have had a few light showers here in the East Midlands, so the gardens are surviving, just.
There are rumours of a hosepipe ban again if this dry spell continues,it makes me wonder why we haven’t got a national water network, that would allow water to be pumped from the cooler northern  areas down to the drier areas as required.

It certainly is a big lump.I wouldn’t like the fuel bill if it ran on petrol instead of steam.    😂😂

They made some nice beers at Kelham Island brewery, sadly, I believe they closed down earlier this year.
Ian, I believe Ladybower was low enough to see the old Derwent village 4 or 5 years ago and I'm sure a few of us rode up there to see it?

Re: "water grid" type network, it's hard stuff to pump about, yhat water.  The further you push it, the longer the distance, the heavier the load, the harder and more expensive it is to do.

I know for a fact that there is a pipeline from the Ellesmere Port area across to Immingham as I know the pilot of the security helicopter that used to fly along its route every day,East to West one day then West to East the next.It runs at such a high pressure, that they can pump fuel and then change to water and only have a few metres of contamination. It is controlled by the government only apparently.

If you put big enough pumps into the system then you can pump water from the north to the south. You only have to look at gas being pumped (used to be pumped) from Russia to Europe. So it can be done, but it would have to be government owned which won’t happen as we sold off our water network. Trying to get private companies to work together for the national interest will only happen if lots of money is offered by the government… they are broke so best just hope it rains down south soon.

Co-incidentally it is raining here in the Derby area now, but not very heavy, we really could do with a few days of steady rain.

Me and a friend are off to Donington this weekend for the classic meet. I bet it rains on Sunday when we will be walking about the place and gawping at old shiny stuff. :rain:
Yeah, bound to as I haven't seen rain for weeks and weeks so I know it's waiting to get me.

I'll be there racing a Classic kneeler sidecar outfit with Norton Commando engine...
It will, therefore, definitely rain mainly on the Sunday,  :GRR: and mixed with jet fuel from overhead aircraft should make the track interesting...  :dl_hyperhysteria:

I thought on the last couple of rides the bike felt off, so today I thought I'd have a look. Removed the panels/lifted the tank and had a poke around. Couldn't see anything obvious but whilst doing this, one of the kids' friends slowly reversed a pedal go-kart into the bike and the entire thing wobbled on the centre stand. Turned out the bolts were very loose. It needs repainting anyway (must buy better paint this time) so it's off at the moment. Will be reinstalled with generous amounts of thread locker this time.
Not sure if that's the vibes I was feeling or something else but it probably doesn't help.
Check your nuts (bolts) folks  :fix:

Belt and Braces....  :fix:
Put these extra protectors on, just wasn't happy that the standard suggested fitment area was sufficient. I hope I never find out.
