Refurbished front calipers from SV1000 which will be installed on my strom. Changed oil and filter 😁😉 Lots more to do. Chain + sprockets to be replaced, brakes discs to be replaced, brake and clutch levers to be upgraded. 😁

Changed rear brake disc, + brake pads, changed chain and sprockets. Whole day of work, just finished. I am knackered but definitely saved few quid :)  PS. RK chain can be riveted by did tool. Pin with the groove needs to be used.

New oil and filter, definitely need to add headset bearing check to the next work day as I may have the tiniest bit of play.
I also think she's eating through yet another rear downpipe gasket, has anyone else had this issue with a Vee or is it just me?
I suspect slight misalignment of the after market exhaust is at fault, it is Italian after all ;)

Got that Michelin pilot road 2 fitted and while I'd the wheel out I removed the rear link and greased it up.
I also removed the sprocket cover for a good clean. After the last clean up a year ago or more I decided not to use chain lube anymore as the mess was bad, switched to a Scotoiler and just painted oil on after a wet ride etc, but it was all just as bad as ever in there to be honest.
Change the oil also as I normally do it ever 6 months but this year I've only done 2500miles, the oil looked fine, I must stop this habit now my mileage is halved.

I found my new exhaust silencer (320mm Tri-Stainless) was slowly getting louder and louder... had a chat with the nice people at Delkevic and they suggested that I might have sprung a leak. I couldn't see anything, looked perfect, but after a soapy wash I found the smallest bubbles from the front riveted section. So, after a little negotiating I ordered a new 350mm Oval Carbon silencer to try. Still a lovely mellow sound but definitely quieter! I filmed the difference, going to make a short video and upload to YouTube. Happy days!

Bit of lunch time investigation reveals that, yes she has burnt through another rear downpipe sleeve gasket in 2 years and yes it is because I hadn't aligned the collector box correctly so it was sitting too low and the joint had opened out. New gaskets on order and this time the whole thing will be assembled with a bit more exhaust paste to take up any annoying gaps.
The play in the headset has led to a fairly severe accel/decel wobble and an overall unpleasant disconnected feeling in the front end so I've done a tempoprary fix using the long screwdriver and a hammer method but taper rollers and the correct locknut tool are on order so that can go on the list along with just about everything else for Autumn.
New off the showroom floor, where's the fun in that ;)

Bought my 2006 Vstrom 650 a few months ago, looked very clean when I bought it, few dings, scratches to be expected on a bike this old but overall very well looked after.
Noticed the other day that despite some chain clean and re-lube the chain was making more noise than I thought it should.
Today I took off the front sprocket cover to give it a bit of a clean inside.
Holy shit there was a lot of crap in there!!!!
What I thought would be a 1/2 hour job ending up taking 2 hrs!
Thick black mud/grease mix caking everything. Yuck.

Anyway, seems much quieter now :)
to be honest I'm amazed I wasn't having more problems with the clutch and chain generally given how much shit was in there.

An afternoon well spent that's for sure :)

Probably never been done before. To be honest they all end up pretty filthy in there, I do mine every year and while never that bad it's always worse than I think it will be. I've stopped using chain lube and use a Scotoiler now but still the muck collects.

It might be the crud or the angle of your picture but that clutch cable looks "ready".
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Don't for the love of god remove the clutch worm drive without it being over a nice big, deep bowl  :fix:
There are loads of little 2.5mm steel balls in there and they'll fall and roll all over the place - just ask how I know they will and what size they are!  :angry-banghead:

Went for a ride, involved coffee and cake. Again.
Wooler to Hexham, Hexham to Jedburgh and onto Kelso and home.
First time with the new bits fitted. Er'Indoors comment, "it's far nicer on the back than the Pan".
It was our first proper day ride on The B, thoroughly enjoyable.
It didn't rain either, maybe my curse is broken. Maybe not.

I am pleased you had a good day ooot. You are lucky with the roads up there, the B6306 and the B6278 are two of my favourites heading back South to Stanhope.

The rain is a bit of a sore point just at the moment.
No blummin rain for the grass, veggies or flowers at home but every time I venture out it p....s down on me/us.
Its bad on many counts.
I don't like getting wet.
I don't like a dirty bike.
I don't want to have to wash the damn things every time I go out.
I don't like wet bike kit lying around.
But, when the sun shines and the roads are just perfect, there is surely no more pleasurable, well......pleasure.
TL, yes the roads are pretty good. The ones that stood out today were the roads to Rothbury off the 697 and as always the 68 up and over Carter Bar to Jedburgh. We stopped at Carter Bar, it's the piccie above, you could see for more than 40 miles towards the North.
Even better when they're blummin dry.
