Thanks, no added performance but if you need to change the hoses anyway then might as well colour match  :icon_wink:

That is a very clean, very tidy looking k5. Dare I ask its mileage?

30,987 miles so far, with 24k done by myself in just under 4 years (I bought it in June 2018). The previous and first owner only did a few hundred miles a year. I think the last few years he just rode it to his local Suzuki dealer for a service and MOT, then rode home and put it back in his garage till the next year.

I do ride it but I have bad OCD, so every winter I undertake cleaning, repairing and replacing anything that looks bad. As COVID has finally dropped off everyone’s radar I’m looking forward to lots of miles this summer, even if Petrol costs too much!

Lucky you didn't get the previous year's model,  when they forgot to paint the frame.

My car does about the same mpg as my VStrom. One is petrol the other diesel but my point. I use my car when I have to and cry at the fuel pump but, I don't care the cost of a fill up on my bike. I love riding so much, cost doesn't matter as long as I can afford it. Fuel costs have rocketed, maybe I won't be able to afford it much longer, when it reaches £10 a litre ? The world has gone mad. I feel sorry for the babies born into this time.

Hopefully they will put it all right, the world will be waiting on it! When things hit rock bottom, there is only one way to go, back up. I hope the next generation can put right what so many have done wrong. What a responsibility we are passing on.

Wow! I rambled on a bit there, two cans of larger must be too many.   :thumb:

So I was feeling chain-lazy.
Popped the 650 up onto the paddock stand and gave the chain a good wipe down. Kicked in the kick stand, started her up and engaged 1st gear. Sprayed the lube directly on the inner side of the chain with the wheel merrily spinning with just a piece of paper the catch the spill.

Haven't done that stunt since I was 18. Age and regression I reckon.

Nice 90 odd miles today in some lovely warm(ish) weather. Called into The Yonderman but no breakfast to report on, just had a sausage & egg COB & a piece of flapjack, both very nice.

Had Just Motorcycles of Basingstoke do my MOT and fit R&G protectors. Only two advisories which will be sorted when I do the pre trip service in May. Good service from JM, and they loaned me a bike to get to work.

Having had a few weeks of the intermittent F1 not starting issue, and having already cleaned the kill switch contacts, whilst out last night I had the headlights fail. Luckily, I was only 2 miles from home, and still had sides and spotlights. Today I've spent 6 hours cleaning every one of the 54 plug contacts behind the radiator with isopropyl alcohol and 400 grit wet/dry, and then shrouding and tie wrapping it all with an inner tube. All is now working as it should, and hopefully that will be the end of any issues in that area. Time now for a well deserved beer.

Paint ruins the platinum finish.

I knew the bike hadn't been well looked after when I purchased it in November, but it keeps me busy.
More corroded electric terminals, this time on the cooling fan connector & thermostat connector, all sorted now.
The clutch slave cylinder was weeping, so stripped it down and rebuilt.

Checking the bike over before the MOT tomorrow I noticed the brake lights not working when using the rear brake - typical!! :angry-banghead:
My fault for checking last minute, but have rebooked it for next week and found the culprit is the connection under the coolant expansion so I'll have a fun few hours removing panels, tank and expansion tank for a less than 1 minute job to plug it back in   :groan:

Still, glad I spotted it now as I often dab the rear brake when rolling off the throttle to let following vehicles know I'm slowing down.
