NEC bike show
« on: October 30, 2011, 21:30:21 »
Anybody else going?

I have tickets, going on the opening day, and a weekend in Brum to boot!

Question is, is there any decent deals on jackets and boots to be had, or are the online shops just as good?

Spoted a nice jacket, but unsure whether to go for it, or to hang on a few weeks to see what's on offer at the show!

Also, need to decide on a pair of TCX infinity or a Altbergs. I struggle with footwear in general so the idea of custom fit is appealing, but the TCX spec is spot on, and I muy current TCXs are great!

Going on the Sunday 20th.  Got a free ticket but it means I will be working for some of the day on the Gold Wing Owners Club Stand

I thought the best deals would be towards the end, trouble is, I have 'normal' size needs -M helmet, L jacket, 34 waist, so bargains tend to be few and far between compared to 74 waist and xxxxl helmets!

Think I may just hang on though, as I am bound to see something I like down there!

Boots are another matter - Only TCX and Sidi seem to do a generous eu 48, and then they are the more spendy models

I'm going on the first Saturday, down & back in the day. It's a bit of a slog but not too much drama, oh, unless it snows heavily like last year ! I'm in the hunt for some boots too ( Sidi ) and possibly a set of Anakee 2's if they're a decent price. A sit on the new Triumph 1200 Adventurer could also lead to a flurry of money changing hands too....

The show does not seem to have a trade day as previous years. It was more expensive to get in but at least you could walk around and sit on the bikes without being a sardine for the day.

Thinking of going mid week.

I'm going on the last day as this is when you are most likely to get the best cash deals from the traders!

Might have to wear my V-Strom fleece in case others from here are there on the 27th as well

Will be there the last day, I get back from South Africa the day before. I'm hoping to get a good deal on a helmet and some boots (and maybe some summer gloves.) Will be there as early as possible and wearing my V-Strom.co.uk fleece so say 'Hi' if you see me (chances are I'll be walking around with longman and anyone else we might have run into along the way.)

Infinity Motorcycles had a few stalls last year, one of them a big one and I think 2 smaller ones. They had the best prices on quite a few things near the end so make sure you go by them if you're looking for a bargain. A bit of haggling might get the price down another £10-20 even.

See you there, look me up on the Goldwing Club Stand.  It will be easy to spot me as I will be the better looking one on the stand :)

I'll be there tomorrow (sunday). No fleece though. Going on the strom, free parking in hall 1. Ful panniers and topbox, sporting v-strom stickers. Mines the filthy blue one.
Looking for bargain boots, lid, jacket, trousers and gloves and maybe an oiler of some kind.
