Adjusting the chain
« on: April 14, 2011, 21:55:24 »
Since I fitted my pyramid hugger the chain has been catching the front of the hugger its fitted as per the instructions I can only think that the chain may be to slack? I gather that any adjustments must be made on the sidestand and the tolerances are between 20-30 mm does any body have the correct procedure for tightening chains please.

20-30mm at the SLACKEST point, chains don't always stretch evenly.

I'd the exact same problem when I first fitted the Pyramid hugger.  Still happens to a (annoying!) degree!  I'm considering cutting the front back an inch or so to allow for chain play (my chain's at the correct tension) - if that'll work!!

I've always done mine on the centre stand or if the bike doesn't have a centre stand, up on  some wooden blocks

I followed the manual so I did mine on the side stand, loosened the axle nut, then adjust the chain with the adjusters on both side of the bike, tighten the the axle nut again - just in case I also checked that the wheels are in line with the 7 foot metal bar - job done.
