Intermittent RH Front Indicator - Fuse blown?
« on: March 24, 2011, 17:17:41 »
Sometimes it works, but most of the time the front right indicator doesn't work, and the dashboard light and rear indicator flashes twice as fast. Does this sound like a blown fuse to you? Is it fairly straightforward to fix?

Cheers, Jon

sounds to me to be the bulb      sometimes they can make a contact back across the elemnt and work again for a while hence why some people hit lamps and they work again

had the same problem and it was bulb/socket issue. I took the lens off cleaned the socket (that bulbs sits in), put the bulb back in and it works fine since 5min job maybe it is the same with yours

As longman says and add a splodge of grease (not copaslip) to stop any corrosion while it's apart   :thumb:

The reason it flashes faster is because if one bulb goes dead/disconnected the resistance in the circuit is less. This causes the indicator flasher relay to work faster. It's very typical sypmtom for an issue with a bulb/bad connection that causes one bulb to disconnect from the circuit. Hope that explanation makes sense :) As suggested, a clean could fix it if it's not the bulb.

Hi blokes, I thought as much - less resistance, faster flashing etc...

Will try the cleaning but might as well grab a couple of bulbs anyway - 77p each from Wemoto!

If they're the same age (likely) then replace as a pair as the other one will likely go soon.
