Yep, snow's back again in the North east, 6 inches of the stuff yesterday and it was -10 when I got in the car this morning ! Bugger, it looks like a long winter...
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'

Got caught out myself this weekend.. went out for a spot of the festive shopping as you do (read have to..), popped in the shops, came out and snow every where. Decided in one of my wiser moments not go back the back way but to keep to the main road. However, this wasn't gritted because.. ummmm .. errrrr..

moving on..

The back was slithering about, and the kind person that let me in was now chasing my tail on the straight bits, and falling back on the corners, didn't understand a gentle constant speed obviously. Went past a car in the ditch with and attending unmarked police car with its diddy little blue lights flashing pathetically in the blizzard... (Bet they wish they had a great big Jam Sarnie to play in), felt the back twitch on the icy bits and bits I couldn't  really understand why it twitched but Hello ho...

All the way to the T junction that joins the road to the A1 which is situated perfectly on a little bump in the world that means the inevitable hill start, once some myopic car driver lets you in, is bound to be a slipping sideways sliding affair, with a good chance ot it all ending in tears...

But it didn't.. it slid its tail out and then I kept the rear spinning as it kind of edged up over the brow of the junction toward the traffic gap I had chosen, before giving it some left hand down a bit just before it found grip and shot off.

As it happens, there was no grip, and I had to keep spinning until I was stood on the packed snow with everyone else.

Glad I was in a car really    Although in my defence to the inevitable p*** taking it is my first rear wheel drive car in many many years.... Would have been lots more fun if all those other people had stayed off my road

To you nutters who ride in this stuff for fun, I take my hat off to you.. I used to have to ride all year when I was a despatch rider.. but the 4 wheeled bike comes out this time of year  :thumb:

The snows not really a problem you can just blast through it. Its the lumps of ice on the roads hiding under the snow which throws the front out that you have to be ready for.

A few more.
Out on the roads

then into the woods

Snow rims

Private land you say... well take my plate down and report me HAHAHA

Managed to drain a fair bit of fuel onto the drive at home after filling up the bike. The sidestand sunk into the snow putting the bike on a steep angle and the fuel drained out the tank overflow. Now I have green snow     bloody stinks. was thinking about throwing a match on it to get rid of the fuel and melt the snow... kill 2 birds with one stone.    Next thread...  Today I set myself on fire with snow  lol

Took the strom out for an hour but didn't get any shots as I left my bloody phone at home. For grip I wrapped some nylon rope round the tyres through the rims and set off. was alot more cautious on the strom shes a tad heavier than the drz and I'm betting would snap my leg in a heartbeat if I laid her down on top of me.

I've always been fairly good at driving in the snow because I live in a place where we get it every year and I used to do deliveries early in the morning. It would be easier if we didn't have to do the "Bavarian Slalom". That is , driving around all the abandoned BMW cars.

Rear wheel drive? sillyness.
