Glowing MCN review of Xpedition
« on: September 30, 2010, 09:58:58 »
They love it...  http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/biker ... Xpedition/

Not sure where 70mph at 4000 rpm comes from.  Surely this bike isn't higher geared than normal?  Maybe a typo.  Either way it's good to see such a positive article - part of me wondered if someone from here had hacked the MCN website!

wouldn't mind a set of those alloy cases on my bike - any idea what they cost or any similar?

I think mine is showing 4500rpm at 60mph in top, so yes they got that bit wrong.

I agree, if you're buying new it make more sense to buy a £5000 X and put whatever accessories you like on it and still have change from £6500.

My Guzzi comes with the same boxes (SW Motech Trax) as standard, they are a £630 option !
It's pronounced 'twenty-one-twelve'

theyv'e also got the GT version as £6999? I didn't pay anywhere near that. I agree with other people and I'd buy the x model and fit my own stuff alot cheaper

If you look at Suzuki's website you'll see all their prices are up now - two price rises in the last few months (the X is now supposedly £5999!  It was £5499 around May when I bought mine, then went to £5699 in July and now £5999). Mind you, nothing like the stupidity that Yamaha is displaying.

I agree with all the comments here.  I bought an X and put the Givi luggage on it that I wanted, centre stand, heated grips, MRA Vario, Madstad, all the crucial Cymarc stuff and it's still cost way less that Suzuki's current list on the X.  Not sure I'd have been prepared to stump up £7300 for the Xpedition but for me it's just good to see such a positive review of the Strom generally.

Nice to see the Strom finally getting some articles printed about it. Read one about it in the MCM a while back too.

If my memory serve me right the box's alone are £650 + rack & fitments £100/£150 . Ouch. I think you need to be on a around the world tour for the box's to be needed.

They quoted the weight wrong again!! That's the Thou, which is 20KG on top.
And what's wrong with the Alloy boxes? GS Envy anyone?? Tragically obvious *sigh*
Grrrr:-)
