Love the DIY ethos, but 24 miles on a charge would kind of limit me a bit too much...

This could be the way forward, but battery and PV technology need to get a bit better yet (both are still in their infancy really). The beauty with electric motors (depending how they are configured) is that they produce all of their maximum torque across the rev range, a handy trick to pull off. Also if you had enough power a motor configured as 'cumulative shunt' would increase it's speed as the applied load increases - ideal for drag bikes with 'expanding' tyres !!! And the charge would only have to last a few seconds   :thumb:

Once fuel cells are sorted and reliable the electric car will be deader than a dead thing that's been cremated and buried.. :violence-uzi:

But I can't see the feeling being the same as that V-Twin throbbing away... :auto-dirtbike:

Solar power in UK - Not going to work with our weather  :rain:

Our best bet will be Hydrogen fuel cells or alternative fuels that work in petrol engines

The top quality PV's (photo voltaic) work under moonlight ! Admittedly not producing a lot of energy but impressive non the less.
