Bak 2 Skool
« on: October 03, 2010, 18:57:29 »
The increasing popularity of Forums like this has really highlighted the diabolical level of the abilities of some adults to string a readable sentence together.

How often do you see sentences like "there products are bad" or "there having a laugh" or "that's to expensive"  :angry-tappingfoot:  It's a bit basic but try this and be honest if you get any wrong..

10/10 If I hadn't I would have been extremely disappointed.  I couldn't agree more about the abuse of apostrophes but will refrain from going on as it will only develop into a rant.

I work as an assistant in a large comprehensive and very few, children and staff alike, can spell correctly or understand grammar, including the staff in the English department.

Most of the kids think a homophone is someone who does not like gay people and that syntax is charge connected with pornography.

Still English is an evolving language innit like y'know m8 cul8r lol

10/10 but would have been mortified & crucified by my children/grandchildren if less, as they are fed up listening to me going on about spelling and grammer!
I won't answer 'text-speak' on my phone and can't help using punctuation, sentences and capitals in Emails.

Score: 10/10

People at work look at me funny when I correct their spelling/grammar/punctuation for them. I was always the English teacher's favourite. I used to have pretty much perfect English until I came to the UK, it's almost like the attitude is: "We are native English speakers, why do we need to learn it?" I think being subjected to bad English regularly is taking it's toll on me, I'm starting to doubt the spelling of some words that I never had to think twice about. Still, I have no excuse to get something wrong with http://www.dictionary.com around.  lol

Come to think of it, shouldn't the plural of 'forum' be 'fora'?
