15k service how to sync glee
« on: March 26, 2014, 22:19:40 »
Hi, bike is due 15k service, bought the manual so valve and shim check no problems with doing.

Book gives no info regards synching just states to bring to Suzuki as computer needed.

I have done the carb synch on my old Bandit 1200, can it be done on the Glee without bringing to dealer or is it done automatically with the ecu on the bike.

Does it need to be done if so can it be done without taking to dealer.

Thanks in advance.

A throttle body synch on a 2007 or later 650 is just an idle air screw synch. Mainly for emissions reasons, the linkage between the throttle bodies is not supposed to be touched. If the bike runs without lugging down to somewhere between 2500-3000rpm and idles okay, I'd leave well enough alone. Those determined to try a TBS without a Suzuki SDS or HealTech OBD computer aided system can check the following.

The opening line says the procedure applies to 2007-2009 650s but it works for 2007 to present. The line was written in 2009.

That seems fairly straightforward GW, standard. I was expecting some sort of 'make your own tool' type voodoo or 'here's how to fool the bike into thinking it's in an expensive Suzuki workshop' tip. It's just a vacuum gauge, a couple of screws and some swearing, the normal balancing requirements. :)

It will only get close. The ISC valve needs to be locked at step 57 (IIRC) to be right on. Since it only affects idle mixture though, close enough for government work actually is close enough.

Thanks blokes, very helpful. From your info it looks as if it will not need touching as bike pulls OK from 2k on no lugging, obviously on flat road and normally in town. I'll still check it though. :)

Thank alot.
