Lowering dog bones 650.
« on: September 01, 2024, 15:03:59 »
It's probably been discussed in the past but I can't find what I'm looking for in the search function.
Me and my missus love our 2015 650, suits us perfectly, however just got back from a 2 week trip and my missus is starting to struggle a bit getting off and on the back.
I was thinking of swapping for a lower bike but there's not really anything I fancy so thinking of the lowering route. Already have a low seat (not sure if it's just the front that's lower).
I've seen dog bones that lower by 25 and 40mm. Anyone with experience of a pillion with the 40mm ones? Does it affect the ground clearance so much that you're constantly dragging centrestand/footrests etc? Any experiences or thoughts welcome.

Changing the lowering links is easy, but as you pointed out, there are a few other things to consider....  side and center stand length, foot peg drag plus something that you didn't list; is possible rear mudguard rub.
A few discussions that you may want to have a look through:

The last link is an example of rear mudguard rub.

Hi Crump

I have a set of adjustable dog bones which I removed from my L2 before selling it.

They are yours just for the postage if you want them.

Cheers
