The time has ccme
« on: August 06, 2024, 15:09:31 »
My 650 xx is for sale & details are in the bike sale section.

Bought new in 2019 & low mileage.

This is the bike which went to MCT in March & was fitted with a Nitron shock & remote adjuster.

I have been motorcycling for 64 years & the bike is not getting the use it should have.

I will be sorry to see it go, but the time has come.

Sorry to hear that mate, hopefully you can pick up something else that will keep you riding.

My mate has just decided to pack it in but changed his mind by PX his BMW for a step through 400cc scooter. Now loves it and said he should have done it sooner.

I'll second the above  :text-goodpost: since selling my last V Strom ( age related :old:), I've continued to ride twist and go scooters. I would recommend at least a 300cc plus for an experienced motorcyclist. I thoroughly enjoy riding my current Honda Forza 300. Reasonably quick ( about 10 -15 mph left at the legal maximum) good storage, handling, and it does low 90's mpg regularly for me. It has been very reliable and in 3 yrs ownership ( had other "scoots" at the same time - Honda NC 700s DCT and Honda 750X DCT and Honda X ADV 750) I have done 10,000 miles on the 300 Honda Forza without any problems at all. I have kept the 300 far longer than the 700 and 750 models, and it is the better bike for me due to the lighter weight and seamless CVT transmission.

Thanks for that, there is a lot of food for thought there. My motorcycling started with my 350 Matchless on learner plates, riding to the Ace Cafe to meet my mates. Since then all my miles have been either commuting or touring. I retired in 2002 so no commuting, and a combination of age and medical things have stopped us touring on the Continent. I had the suspension upgraded on the 650 in March anticipating doing some UK touring this summer, but the grotty weather and losing our touring companion stopped that. I only did c1,000 miles last year & about 500 so far this year. Gearing up just to ride round Norfolk in the traffic holds little joy for either of us hence the decision to sell. Perhaps a big scooter will provide the solution. I must visit the dealers. :)
