Does anyone have any experience or has fitted a MC  Cruise unit to their 2014-2019 vstrom 1000.

Not on the VStrom but the MC cruise has many fans in the KTM world. All praise it for the ease of fitment, operation and the quality of the components. The developer/manufacturer is a member on one of the KTM forums I frequent, he is a very approachable chap though he was reluctant to sending me one f.o.c to evaluate a unit that would be used whilst riding on the left.
To be happy, I don't need private helicopters,a Florida house or a yacht. I'm fine with my motorcycle,a trip to a forest in Bavaria and some lunch money.

Only £666! Wow, that's a lot of money and before postage and any possible import duty. Do you want it that much? I haven't used cruse control on a bike but have in my car. I agree it is very useful on a long motorway drive with light traffic but I can't see me using it on a bike, maybe one of those throttle locks though.

The best thing about cruse control on a motorbike would be for those 20mph roads, especially if it could be used as a Max Speed limiter like in my car. Mmmm I'm beginning to think maybe it is worth £666?  :thumb:

Thanks for the info TLPower. I am interested as to how it works with throttle cables.
Dr 46. I use my bike for a daily commute which includes 40mins on a motorway. I love my vstrom but to get cruise control I would have to get an XT along with shitty spoked wheels. Also mine only has 20,000 miles on it so has plenty of life left in it. On a side note I live in Brighton where we've had 20mph limits for at least 4 years. As far as I know the only person the police prosecuted in a twenty zone was doing 70mph. Even the police ignore them and everyone still does 30mph.

A lot of mentions in youtube reviews of the new Vstrom 800re about it not having cruise control,
I wonder how many times we'd actually use it if it was on the bike? anyone here have cruise on a bike in traitors corner?
I could see it being used when touring etc certainly if you were on some long straightish road you could rest your right hand for a while.

My Super Tenere has cruise and it's brilliant, it is one of those things you never knew you wanted. It gets used more abroad than in the UK, but I don't use Mways much here, if I did it would definitely be high up on the list for a new bike. It's also great on 50 average limits....just takes some of the stress away.

Having said that the Wee went to Spain last year and I missed the cruise less than I thought I would....it all depends on the type of roads.

I used a cheapo throttle lock when on my North America trip. It just clips on and then rests against the brake lever once set in position. I only used it a handful of occasions but it did allow a bit of rest for the throttle hand. It would only be of use on Motorways or straight fairly empty roads (in UK ??!) I think it cost about £20 from Sportsbike.

In addition to my above post, I sometimes use the cruise on a quiet twisty flowing road (usually in Spain), set it to a "comfortable" speed and see how long you can go before touching a brake. It is very entertaining and good practice of lines etc.
I cannot recommend that anyone does this of course.

I don't condone trhis but I just came back from testing the higher screen position on the motorway and thought I'd try this too.  Screen is inconclusive but it is blowing a gale out there.  "Cruise control" might actually be useful for those longer boring trips or where my wrist just needs a bit of a break.  Looks factory too  lol

might be worth giving your insurance co a tinkle before spending any money? its not Factory fit or genuine optional extra so may not be willing to insure you or charge you a fair amount extra on your premiums every year.

I would be a bit sceptical on aftermarket cruise control because it is supposed to auto unarm with clutch, brake or more to the point loss of traction trigger off the ABS system

I have one of those Kaoko throttle locks and Bikesure didn't increase premiums, but you do need to declare the  :thumb:

@baz-r, the MC Cruise is a properly sorted OE spec system with the requisite safety features. I have a Kaoko lock and would trust the electronic far more.
