Muffs for the Strom
« on: October 19, 2023, 15:57:49 »
Afternoon all,

Hoping someone might be able to help me. I commute 100 miles a day for work. After lots of searching for waterproof winter gloves (which are not heated) there really are none that will tick what I need.

Therefore I'm looking to get some bar muff (Oxford, tucano etc). Everything on the bars is factory standard like mirrors etc.

Has anyone fitted a pair which work?

I have the hand guards so wind pushing should not be an issue assuming the muff go over those as well.

I did toy with these on my 2012 Glee, think they were tech7 make.
Drilled a hole for the bar end bolts to go through and a few rubber washers from memory.
Didn't have handguards which would have supported them better, so might be worth a try?

Not a fan of muffs, have tried them but could not get on with them.
Flap flap flap
But with heated grips/handgaurds and these

I have found I don't need them.
You could do the washing up in them and not get wet .
Used for 3 winters and 40,000 miles ,still my goto glove if it is wet out.

Must admit I've never had guards or heated grips on a bike to date, horses for courses  :thumb:

I’m not sure how to search on here very well, but I remember a thread about someone having success with a set of muffs that were made of neoprene. Apparently didn’t suffer from sagging in the wind blast.

If you go to the top right of the page you will see a search box. Type in, bar muffs, and you will find lots of threads mentioning them. Apparently the cheap eBay ones do fit over hand guards. I had them on a ZX10 (without hand guards) years ago when we had a very cold winter. At that time they were one of the best accessories I had ever bought a bike, they do work once you get used to them, I wore summer gloves under mine.  :thumb:

Got it made these days with heated grips, muffs etc., when I started riding in the 70's my mum knitted me some thick wool mittens which I used inside some Belstaff waxed cotton mitts, I think having fingers touching instead of separated by gloves helped.

Use the search box indicated by the circle, that will search the whole site from whatever thread/board you are on.
The one, top right, marked with the X will only search the board you are on.

Doc, I'd been a member of the forum for 6/7 years before I realised the difference!!  :shy:
If you go to the 'home' page the top right search will look at the whole forum.  :thumb:

I have a set of Givi TM241 muffs, which fit straight on over the handguards in seconds. Really effective.
