Anybody else think the DL650 leans just a little too much on the sidestand? I’ve added a packing piece to the Givi modification already fitted and much happier now😀👍

Crikey! Has the bike been jacked up or the stand shortened? That's a hell of a shim!

Hopefully it hasn't made it too heavy and the side stand doesn't drop too much on bumps etc so it operates the side stand switch & causes the motor to cut out.

Be careful on corners also, I fitted a side stand extension on mine and it hit the road hard with some enthusiastic cornering and it wasn't the size of yours!

Info gleaned from the Stromtooper site, is that the stock side stand length is 10" +/- from center of (top) pivot bolt to center of strut tube where it hits the ground.

How much slop is there stand if when moved in the same direction as the pivot bolt?
If the prongs at the top end of the side stand (part #1) has opened too wide, in relation to where it makes contact with the mounting bracket (part #6), take off the stand and heat that section up then bend or hammer it back into shape or add shims.  See the pix in parts list https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/Suzuki/motorcycle/2009/v-strom-dl650a/stand

A bike that stands too upright can more easily be tipped over the the other side.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

I hope you didn't try it out on the lounge rug.
Er'Indoors will be livid.
I made a side stand extender for my 2017 and it stands at a much better angle.

Thanks blokes, no it doesn’t stand too upright - still has plenty of lean. Doesn’t bounce down and cut the engine and I won’t be corning any where near ‘grounding’ the side stand!
BTW.Yes we ‘up north’ do treat our bikes to a nice comfy carpet to ‘sit’ on in the garage - doesn’t everyone??🤣🤣
