Tank coming off..What else could I do?
« on: September 28, 2023, 09:31:16 »
Hello folks. I’ve ordered a new air filter for my 2016 650 v-strom xt, so tank is coming off I’ll admit am a little bit daunted by the task. Anyway what else can I take care off if the tank is coming off, I thought I could perhaps drain and renew coolant and I believe there is 2 spark plugs at the back I could inspect or change out anything else?
Thanks in advance
Chris

A good clean and re-lube of all the throttle linkages is a good idea whenever the tank is off.

A good clean up of any electrics that are now accessible.
Without rain, there would be no rainbows.

And add some old bicycle inner tube over the electrical connectors above the radiator to help keep the water out.

Inspect the bottom of the tank flanges for rust. I touched some of mine up with Hammerite after a quick application of the rust converting stuff.

Also check your airbox is seated properly before you button everything back up, and that the TB's are actually perched into the rubbers.
