New to Vstroms and want advice
« on: September 10, 2023, 15:24:15 »
I am changing my bike and have pretty much decided on a 2022 vstrom 1050xt.  Test ride was great both times and watched a lot of YouTube reviews. I am now asking any owners to give me their experiences of ownership from general thoughts to reliability, any issues and also on dealer network and servicing experiences.
Many thanks in advance

Martin

I picked up my pre-Reg 1050XT on 2nd May 2023 (Registered by the dealer  September 2022) with 4 miles on the clock. Paid £9995.

Had the 600 miles Service done a couple of weeks later, then did a 3170 mile trip to southern Italy, over 10 days in June……bloody fantastic bike. Last day I did 600 miles (plus the tunnel) from Dijon to Weston-super-Mare. Never had a bike I could do that sort of miles on before. Averaged about 60mpg.

I’m short in the leg (29”) so I paid for the Low Seat….and boots with a thicker sole….works for me.👍

I’ve added the Suzuki protection film kit, a Givi metal rear rack with a 52L Tracker box (I don’t need panniers as I use a roll bag on the pillion seat), Puig hugger, Hepco Becker skid plate (even with the factory fitted extended front mudguard I noticed road debris hits the bottom of the engine) and a few other bits.

I’ve taken out the Suzuki 3 year service contract and will have it dealer serviced to extend the full warranty to 7 years. I’ve been using my local garage for years, so when they went from Independent to Suzuki dealership, the staff are all the same so I know what I’m getting there…..although servicing prices have gone up in line with Suzuki pricing.🤷‍♂️

Anything else?👍

Mmmmmm

Pray share details of these thicker soled boots.

Sounds just what I may be looking for.

Cheers

Oh bugger

Yes you did, so sorry it’s me age don’t you know.

I am off to the sports bike shop in Boston in a couple of weeks to get some.

The only other ones I found were Daytona at about a million squid a pair, so these look fab.

Cheers

I’ve never been in. Ordered tons in the past but since I moved here I have driven past lots of times and it looks huge.

I have a few shiny pounds squirrelled away from prying eyes so I fear I will be doing the same.

Such an adventure.

Cheers

8 year old can reach the pillion foot pegs……maybe squeeze the 4 year old between the two of us.🤔😁

Had my 1050 from new and it has 11,000mls on it now .Great mpg .Good brakes . A monster on the motorway. Been 100% reliable . A very very underestimated bike .
