Suzuki DL1000 K5 K5 or K10 fuel
« on: September 11, 2023, 15:44:31 »
Maybe a stupid question but which type of unleaded fuel here in the UK does everyone use on their 1000 DL K5.

K5 or K10 fuel?

Regards
Al

Mine's a K7 but exactly the same bike.
I use E10 most of the time but treat her to a tank of E5 every once in a while if I'm passing a Tesco station whilst on the fuel light.
I try to run to the fuel light and fill with E5 before laying up for winter though, just to be on the safe side.
Can't say as I've noticed any difference in how she runs, or how much she drinks, between the 2 though.

I'm the same as Rixington, but in my 650. E10 most of the time, E5 occasionally but around November time I always use E5 & fill to the brim before I get home & park it up, just in case it doesn't get a run for a month or two.
There is very little difference in MPG, again on my 650, between the two & I can not tell if it runs better or worse either.

Before the winter lay-up  Last time ( November to March ) I like to give them a fill and add a bottle of injector cleaner and run that through the bike and then fill up and add some petrol preserver. I have no idea if any of this does any good but as an aetheist I have no other strategy.
This doesn't last forever, so do it while you can.

E10, no point paying premium for E5, no real benefit of using it.
