Professional Headlight LED conversion
« on: February 13, 2023, 12:32:26 »
Hello. Decided to go ahead with full LED conversion with lenses.
Will update the topic when the headlight arrive (1 month waiting time).

Complete modified headlight can be seen here:

Homepage of the person who does the modification.

https://doctorlight.pl/en/homepage/

Cost: 2200pln (in todays course it would be 405gbp) - Normally you have to send your headlight to Poland but I opted to buy a new one so my cost is double as I had to buy brand new headlight from Suzuki Poland to be able to continue to use the bike until the modified headlight arrive.

It is costly but I don't mind paying extra as my bike is a keeper.
Obviously no homologation for this but I don't think that will be a big problem for me.

It is going to have flat cut off so I will be able to use it in EU and UK without the issues.

Me too, especially that from March 2021 LED conversions are legal as long as the light beam meet specification and beam pattern :)

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/special-notice-01-21-headlamp-conversions/mot-special-notice-01-21-headlamp-conversions

"2. Changes to current rules
From 22 March 2021, we’re changing these rules so that not all motorcycles and vehicles will fail the MOT test if their halogen headlamp units have been converted to be used with HID or LED bulbs.Class 1 and 2 motorcycles

Class 1 and 2 motorcycles must not be failed for the defect ‘Light source and lamp not compatible’.
Headlamps must comply with all other requirements of the test and headlamp aim.
The motorcycle inspection manual will be updated shortly, and the ability to select the defect within the MOT testing service will be removed."

That is a really nice conversion. Sometimes aftermarket stuff cheepens the bike but that looks really good. Please let us all know how it performs in terms of light and how power usage compares.

Headlamp has been modified, there are indicators inside the semicircles around the lenses, now waiting for shipping 🙂

While the assembly is not yet installed, do you have any pix of the rear view of your new headlight cluster?

Hello Gert, a bit to late :(
Installed already. Does not differ to standard one, the only difference is that there is no rubber boots, the holes are sealed and the wires with the plugs coming out from the centre of the headlight.

I am more curious than you. Will post when my moto will be finished. For now is undergoing maintenance jobs.

Specially for you kwackboy. Rings, low beam and high beam. On the center stand so definitely low beam will go a bit higher but it is just a matter of adjustment. Standard adjusters are still present and can be adjusted as original.

Looking good. I think that one test will be on a night run in the country, to determine whether you may need aux lights as well. Another test would be with local traffic at night, to see if the lights setting are offensive to oncoming traffic.
Talking of adjustment, any pointers on the new setup?

BTW, all you need now to complete the bike's view from the front, is a beak to pull off the Angry Bird look lol

Nice .. hope its good down dark lanes..  :thumb:

Just as a side note,  how much power do they use and have you checked your charging rate at the battery ..? Should be no more than 14.4v.

Going down the LED route on older bikes can sometimes cause the stator to over heat and burn out.

They draw definitely less than halogen bulbs, charging in my bike is flawless as I have new mosfet reg/rec 😉 Regarding the oncoming traffic it is only matter of adjustment if needed. I highly doubt I will need aux lights.
