2018 DL1000 Engine bars?
« on: December 06, 2022, 17:42:30 »
Hi blokes, looking at picking up a set of engine bars over the Xmas period to fit on the bike, I've seen the ones from Givi, Heed, SW Motech, Hepco & Becker, just wondering what I should be aware of when buying and fitting a set?

As always, any advice is great, thanks.

I can’t recommend any specific parts for your bike as I have an old 650, but I have the Heed engine bars and crash plate and they are excellent quality.

I originally had some Givi engine bars and they were equally well made, but when I came to get a proper bash plate I had to change the engine bars as not all bash plates can be mounted with different manufacturers engine bars. Others on here will have experience of combinations that work, my only take would be if you have neither at present, buy both from the same manufacturer to ensure they bolt together.  :)

I fitted Heed to a BMW and they fitted perfectly, were easy to fit and were good quality at a fair price. I have OEM bars on my DL650 though. I bought them on ebay, they arrived without the bolts but I had them made in stainless steel. It would have been more simple to have fitted Heed.

I would not recommend Givi regardless that I have one for years. They rust very quickly....

cheers blokes, to be honest I've been eyeing up the Heeds, they look like they protect more if you get me, plus for like £160 I can get a set plus 2 little bags that strap to them, Got to be handy for something  :)
