« on: October 16, 2022, 17:16:57 »
Hello strommers does anyone know if the side stands are the same through the years for the DL650. Looking for one for a 2022 AM1

Thanks in advance

You deserve a reply, I think.  :icon_wink:

I have a 2015 650. I ordered a bigfoot from AMC (Advanced Motorrad Concepts) in HighWycombe as it said it covered all models....up until then only two basically. It wasn't the same footprint and I had to file some of it off to make it fit. I was pleased with the product though as it was coloured red to suit my bike.

Now, if Suzuki kept the same frame and clearance height I would have thought the sidestand would have been continued and unchanged, like the standard mirrors for example. With the change in foot shape which I discovered between gen 1 and gen 2 then there may be other mods.

So a non conclusive answer in my experience. Hope this jogs someone else who may know more.
So how's it going so far then?

A quick glance at the parts diagrams courtesy of Motorcyclespareparts.eu, I looked at 2007, 2012, 2015 and 2018. 2017 is    4231006G50, the others were    4231006G60.

So except for the 2007, they're all the same part number.

However, how much they may differ (slightly) in foot shape/design, I don't know. I bought a foot plate from eBay for mine, and it doesn't fit. Allegedly for a DL650. Granted, that doesn't mean much!

I bought a second-hand side stand for my 2021  Vstrom 650. I had it shortened after having lowered the bike. It fitted perfectly. However, the part which should have made contact with the cut-out switch did not do so. I removed the side stand and drilled a small hole in the stand. Then I fitted a bolt and two nyloc nuts-on either side of the hole. The idea being to have a bolt that could be made to contact the switch with an element of adjustment if needed.
Another possibility might be to weld a small piece of steel to the stand which would contact the switch.
Hope this is helpful.
